This old and gnarled oak has shed his coat for the year.

The day started out dreary and gray. Getting out in the afternoon with clear skies was a pleasant change. I was determined to get a photo or two before sundown.

Leafless trees in a row alongside the path, with daffodils growing between them, in St. James Park near Buckingham Palace in London, England.

Early April weather systems have created interesting clouds. The clouds held still for a long time, enabling me to find a spot to take a shot.

Templar Falls (Twin Falls) is in Sugar Hill State Forest, near Watkins Glen. This is Glen Creek, which of course flows through the state park.

The Ithaca area had lots of hidden places. I'd like to look for more sites that are new to me. This is Salmon Creek, not far from Lansing High Shool.

The wind got stronger and the snow really started to come down. This happened off and on for the entire day. I find it challenging to take photos in New York State's changeable weather. It is both humbling and rewarding.

Winter Storm Finn brought an accumulating snow to much of the Northeast. This wooded area nearby looked beautiful. I had to get a photo or two while shoveling out.

This was a peculiar year. The pears were the largest they have ever been, but the leaves fell off the tree before it was picked. The fruit (from the apples as well) was less sweet and flavorful than usual.

It was a day off that I wasn't at my best. Got out and had an enjoyable visit to one of my favorite regional museums. Its adjacent to these wetlands that I normally just drive by. This time I got a photo. That and I learned this is part of the Cold Brook Wildlife Management Area.

I needed to end the cold, stormy work week on a good note. Once again a sunset woke up my senses. It wasn't as frigid as it had been all week, making photography more enjoyable.

Street, Trees, Cars in a parking outside the Maybury Gala Club in Edinburgh, a famous casino with a floor area of 9,000 square feet and a large number of gaming machines.

The sun sets between the trees and the mountains in the middle of the fields of the Malla Valley, where the intense cold of winter begins to be felt.

This spot is near the road and parking lot at the lower entrance. The colors were nice and I was impressed that this man was fishing there.

After adjusting the clocks for Daylight Savings I can time sunsets well after work. The sun's low angle casts long shadows this time of year as well. I was even more impressed by the color tones that the evening had to offer.

The biting cold was not pleasant to be out in for long. Still, the colorful sunset made being out rewarding. I got the sun before it was completely covered by the clouds. Winter had its beauty to go along with the challenges.

That view of the sky is normally pitch black. The Auroras were out, although blocked by clouds. Some long exposures from the end of my street gave me some results.

This wetland isn't really remote, its near a main road. Still, it is protected and quiet. A few nearby homes and farms nicely fit into the area.

SOOC. :]

Of course I was running late for work this morning.

But the fog & sunrise was just too perfect.

This is at about 7:58am :] Anddd I had to be at work at 8.

SOOC!

I couldn't not get some photos of the fog this morning.

Even if I was running late for work :]

Got classy with the aperture setting.

Ludlowville Falls was a peaceful place to visit. The ice and snow made for spectacular scenery.

I had been observing the low-hanging clouds as they covered the area hilltops. As I got to this location a snow squall came through as well. I was compelled to capture the interesting scene.

I was determined to see the park as it was covered in ice and snow. The entire creek was frozen from the lake to the falls. The trail is level and it was plowed. Pretty easy hiking except for the bitter cold.

I photographed the later stages of the sunset this time. The colors of the sky appeared more vibrant than just minutes before. There were just enough clouds to make the scene more interesting.

I got to the upper overlook at the start of spring. Its a time of year where the landscapes seem empty. I chose a split tone black and white photo to make the scene more appealing.

The stretch between Bath and Hammondsport is beautiful. Its in-between the main attractions but the scenery there should be taken in.

General appearance of Upper Park in the later winter/spring.

So many leaves stayed on these trees throughout winter. Different angles provided more depth to me as I was viewing the area. I should go back soon

and take a photo other than this straight-on one. The conditions will change rapidly now that spring is coming.

The historic storm passed, leaving a beautiful snow covered landscape. In life storms pass after a while. If we look for it, we can see the beauty in that too.

OK, this scene looked a lot better in person. I would have liked to have used my DSLR and the lens I could have zoomed in on things more. I didn't have this gear with me, like most of the time anymore. The setting sun and distant horizon had an impressive, warm glow. It stood against the cool, dark clouds above.

It was the day before the official beginning of spring. Warm, windy conditions made for nice enough conditions. The overlooks at the park always provide great views.
