The twist and bending of these ancient layers of sedimentary rock is amazing.

The monumental brick expressionist De Bazel building in Amsterdam. The building, which was completed in 1926, is also known as De Spekkoek (The Layer Cake) due to its horizontal stripes of alternating brick and granite.

Trying out some of my designs layered together. Work often leaves the studio quickly once it is made. I am making an effort to test drive more of my designs to get a better feel for how they work on the body.

The two screws at one end go through the stack, keeping the layers aligned while gluing up then holding the whole slippery stack secure by tightening when done.
