Another cold day here...stagnant air, frost, foggy, etc...but Lil' Bella is ready with her layered clothes!
The view of Bright Angel Canyon and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon from the Tonto Trail between Indian Gardens and Pipe Creek. Most of the different layers of the Grand Canyon are visible in this photo; it is the various colors and hardness of these layers that make the Grand Canyon so intricate.
I was revisiting some photos from back in February, looking for photos to try some new processing techniques I learned in Photoshop. This is a blend of 2 shots that I had previously tried to HDR, but didn't like the results. It turned out much better doing a manual blend in PS.
The layers of stone in this mountain formation and the predictable phases of the moon have met up for millennia in this spot and all others in what is named the Colorado National Monument. I was so excited to capture some shots of the beautiful scenery, with the rising moon in the background!

Expired Kodak Elitechrome - Colors are all weird. I'm not sure how old this film was, found it in a drawer, decided to use it anyway.

When I installed the cabin sole I used 1/4" ply instead of 3/8". The areas where there is traffic do get another layer of 1/4" plywood. In the head area I added some tapered strips to create a slope towards the drain in the lower right hand corner.

This PSD holds 20+ sub page designs. Every interactive designer has their own workflow for organizing layers/folders.
General rules:
- Everything gets properly labelled (no "copy" for the layer name)
- Everything gets properly grouped in a folder
- Folders within a sub page are in order of visual appearance on the design (from top of the page)
- No linked layers!
- No locked layers!
- All mask layers are linked to their respective layer/folder!
- "Beardcrumbs" is an acceptable name for "breadcrumbs"
I also don't ever use the Direct Selection tool. The organized folder system allows me to get anywhere very quickly. Sometimes I'll choose the text tool and click into a paragraph to bring me directly to the folder I want to be in too.

This is where they cut into the old sidewalk to widen the street and put in a new sidewalk. You can see the old layers of side-walk, one of them was even brick, and then they just put new ones on top. Somewhere down there they even buried an old rail line.
After two coats of paint, I sanded down the surface very lightly with 1500grit sand paper and applied the last layer, making it the third blue layers in total. I am working with spray cans, so i dont think there is much point doing more. Next up then is painting the details and applying decals & clearcoats.

Digital Photo Layer Collage - 90"x72"
The photo-layer collage is most definitely inspired by David Hockney. I study his photo-collage work often, but I also took in an equal part of inspiration from the work I do with my MacGyver Camera. I always wondered what the image could look like if the overlapping was controlled.
I am in love with the narrative this process creates and I want to get lost inside all the little nuances that are layered on top of each other.
Not only can you tinker with light in an over bright image, but also the color if you want with a couple of Adjustment Layers and a Color Balance Adjustment in Photoshop. The tutorial is here : photoshopper27.blogspot.com/2011/09/focus-with-color-bala...
I tripped and fell and took off some skin on my arm. This was the end result. This happened last November but thought it would be a great image to practice some photoshop techniques.
