so the story of this little guy....
this is an old male farm cat with no name really. he has been around for many many years it seems. he has fathered many kittens and has out lived his two companions. he is a kind and gentle soul with an adventurous past. year after year he has taken journeys and came back battered and wonded. wiser he learns heals and is able to continue his long cat life.... still today just weeks ago i visited this cat and like nothing changed he greeted me with a cat nudge and a pur, one half of an ear but non the less still content as always...this is the story of a farm cat with no name.

On Thursday, May 19, more than 70 guests joined United Way for a reception and exclusive look at innovative technology and educational programs that are changing the St. Louis region for the better. Randy Schilling from OPO Startups, Bruce Sowatsky from Community and Children’s Resource Board of St. Charles County and Julie Russell from United Way spoke on exciting programs leading the way in creating lasting change to help local people. The event was held at OPO Startups in St. Charles, MO and also provided delicious food and beverages to attendees.

During my parents' annual visit, we planned an overnight getaway to Fredericksburg. After checking out of our hotel on Day 2 of our trip, we returned to Fredericksburg's downtown area and made our way down Main Street to the Marktplatz, or Market Square, which is situated along the 100 block of West Main Street. This public park features pavilions, walking paths, memorials, sculptures, and a wide variety of native plants and trees that collectively make up the Pioneer Memorial Garden.
Set amid the lush gardens is this handsome sculpture group titled ''Lasting Friendship'', which was created by artist J. Hester to commemorate the Meusebach–Comanche Peace Treaty. The kneeling figure is Fredericksburg founder John O. Meusebach and the seated one is Penateka Comanche Chief Santana (or Santa Anna), while the standing figure represents the other chiefs present that day. I took several photos of this sculpture group from different angles to show the detail on the individual statues. Two nearby plaques provide details on this work:
LASTING FRIENDSHIP

John O. Meusebach, German settler and founder of Fredericksburg, and Penatuka Comanche Chief Santanna share a peace pipe May 9, 1847, at the signing of the treaty between the People of Fredericksburg and the Comanche Nation. The standing Comanche represents more than 20 other chiefs also participating in the treaty. This treaty is the only known peace treaty with Native Americans in United States history thought never to be broken. The spirit of this treaty continues in Fredericksburg today.
This bronze was presented to the City of Fredericksburg by the Fredericksburg 150th Anniversary Committee dedicated May 24, 1997.
A LASTING FRIENDSHIP
During Fredericksburg's 150th anniversary we celebrate the enduring friendship between the Comanche Nation and the People of Gillespie County. We honor the Comanches who helped to create and preserve this relationship and their descendants who have continued the friendship.
Chiefs Old Owl, Santana, Ketemoczy, Buffalo Hump, and Horseback were among about 20 chiefs present in 1847 at the San Saba River Peace Treaty Summit and at the Fredericksburg Treaty signing with John O. Meusebach, Fredericksburg's founder; also respectful friends Chief Quanah Parker, Herman Lehmann, and Rudolph Fischer.

365 Days in Colour - 27/30 white. I just planted these pretty daisy type flowers by my front steps. This one is quite white, while most of the others are purple & yellow. I bought the plants at the grocery store, of all places. They were just too pretty to leave behind:-) The blooms are supposed to continue through the summer - I sure hope so!!
