Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative, and carries authority. Gray is controlled and inconspicuous and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. The human eye can distinguish about 500 shades of gray.

Grey. It makes no statement whatever; it evokes neither feelings nor associations: it is really neither visible nor invisible. Its inconspicuousness gives it the capacity to mediate, to make visible, in a positively illusionistic way, like a photograph. It has the capacity that no other colour has, to make 'nothing' visible.

This time of year, I start daydreaming about Lake Tahoe. Being fortunate to have lived near Tahoe for 13 years left me a lasting sense of peace that soothes my soul. Each year I go back and renew my friendship with this Wonder of Nature.

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake (approximately 6000’ elevation) in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, straddling the border of California and Nevada. It’s known for its beaches and ski resorts.

On the southwest shore, Emerald Bay State Park contains the 1929 Nordic-style mansion Vikingsholm.

Along the lake’s northeast side, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park includes Sand Harbor Beach and Spooner Lake, a gateway to the long-distance Tahoe Rim Trail.

This view is from the east side of the lake toward the west and the Snow Capped Sierra Nevada Mountains.

When it comes to things to do in South Lake Tahoe, you can shred down the mountain from 10,067 ft. at Heavenly Mountain Resort’s peak or you can dive into the depths of Lake Tahoe. It’s more than 1600 ft. deep, making it one of the deepest lakes in North America.

Nothing says tropical quite like the bird of paradise. With its large, coarse-textured leaves and long-lasting blooms, bird of paradise plants find themselves at home in any tropical garden. The complex blooms not only look like tropical birds, but also rely on birds for pollination! They last for quite a long time and make fantastic cut flowers.

Another vanda, this time a hybrid. One vanda crossed with another.

Vanda is a genus in the orchid family (Orchidaceae) which, although not massive (about eighty species), is one of the genera more commonly found in the market place. This genus and its allies are considered to be among the most specifically adapted of all orchids within Orchidaceae.

The genus is highly prized in horticulture for its showy, fragrant, long lasting, and intensely colorful flowers.

Vanda is widespread across East Asia, Southeast Asia, and New Guinea, with a few species extending into Queensland and some of the islands of the western Pacific. The genus is sometimes abbreviated as V. in the floral trade. - Wikipedia

The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart.

“It was the time when they loved each other best, without hurry or excess, when both were most conscious of and grateful for their incredible victories over adversity. Life would still present them with other mortal trails, of course, but that no longer mattered: they were on the other shore. ”

Early winter on a late pewter light afternoon...the aged maples are spreading their skeletal branches once again. I have revisited this farm lane many times this past year only to discover new nuances of beauty and a lasting serenity like none other. The terrain is high here and the wind sweeps across the farmland with a pulsating rhythm and audible breathe. Birds scurry and abandon themselves to flight while the crisp air clings to the lungs and sheds aromas of seasonal earthiness. Ashfield, MA

Point Pelee is found in Essex County which is the most southern part of Canada. Essex County including Windsor is less than six percent native forest cover and only three percent of wetlands remain intact. Much of the area has been converted to agricultural and industrial use or urban development which underscores how important Point Pelee is to this part of Canada.

The Dresden Frauenkirche is a Lutheran church in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony. Destroyed during the Allied firebombing of Dresden towards the end of World War II, the church was reconstructed between 1994 and 2005.

An earlier church building was Catholic until it became Protestant during the Reformation. The old church was replaced in the 18th century by a larger Baroque Lutheran building. It is considered an outstanding example of Protestant sacred architecture, featuring one of the largest domes in Europe. It was originally built as a sign of the will of the citizens of Dresden to remain Protestant after their ruler had converted to Catholicism. It now also serves as a symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies.

After the destruction of the church in 1945, the remaining ruins were left for 50 years as a war memorial, following decisions of local East German leaders. The church was rebuilt after the reunification of Germany, starting in 1994. The reconstruction of its exterior was completed in 2004, and the interior in 2005. The church was reconsecrated on 30 October 2005 with festive services lasting through the Protestant observance of Reformation Day on 31 October. The surrounding Neumarkt square with its many valuable baroque buildings was also reconstructed in 2004.

Now with the party people returning to their festivities I can do my typical long exposure. No fireworks in the sky tonight but what color was there was very calming in relation to the party noises next to me. Besides, if there were fiery skies tonight you couldn't pull people off that rock.

Unlike the rest of the country, the northeastern U.S. is particularly blessed with a great variety of broad-leaved trees, which help give the region’s foliage a spectacular color range. Also, New York State has almost as many acres of such trees as the rest of the Northeast combined. It takes about two weeks for the colors to complete their cycles in any given area, with peak brilliance lasting three to four days in any one spot. The views in the Valley are particularly gorgeous in autumn!

Lasting flowers for veneration

Lagerstroemia commonly known as crape myrtle (incorrectly or less commonly spelled crepe myrtle, and often referred to in technical literature as crapemyrtle), is a genus of around 50 species of deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs native to the Indian subcontinent, southeast Asia, northern Australia, and parts of Oceania, cultivated in warmer climates around the world. It is a member of the family Lythraceae, which are also known as the loosestrife family. Crape myrtles are chiefly known for their colorful and long-lasting flowers which occur in summer. Most species of Lagerstroemia have sinewy, fluted stems and branches with a mottled appearance that arises from having bark that sheds throughout the year. Flowers are borne in summer and autumn in panicles of crinkled flowers with a crepe-like texture. Colors vary from deep purple to red to white, with almost every shade in between. 14013

Well today's "explored shots" on Flickr was dominated by flowers - so I thought I would post one.

Love Dahlia's especially this rich purple one I found on a walk. Enjoy Macro's added some texture for fun.

So how are you? I am continuing to stay away from the public & travels ~ Covid-19 virus cases are still growing here in Washington State ~ with mass amounts of protesters we may see a second wave, we are praying for peace..

Stay well and safe Flickr friends.

Happy Macro Monday! :-))) Long Lasting Balloon! :-)))

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

Commonly known as moth orchids, is a genus of about seventy species of orchids in the family orchid. Orchids in this genus are monopodial epiphytes or lithophytes with long, coarse roots, short, leafy stems and long-lasting, flat flowers arranged in a flowering stem that often branches near the end. Orchids in this genus are native to India, China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea and Australia with the majority in Indonesia and the Philippines. A few to many, small to large, long-lasting, flat, often fragrant flowers are arranged on erect to hanging racemes or panicles. The sepals and petals are free from and spread widely apart from each other. The lateral sepals are usually larger than the dorsal sepal and the petals much wider than the sepals. The labellum is joined stiffly to the column and has three lobes. The side lobes are erect and more or less parallel to each other and the middle lobe sometimes has a pair of appendages or antennae. 22186
