Ever since I returned to Santa Cruz from my road trip to Arizona, I have developed a revitalized feeling for this place. I had grown jaded to the epic beaches and green forests somehow. It took leaving to really appreciate the diversity in this area and the ease at which you can go from one extreme to another. Once I had opened my mind to some new landscapes in Arizona and returned, I found that I had a new fresh eye for the obvious here. It led me to set up the camera at a very well known spot on West Cliff Drive and snap off some pictures on the last really good sunny day before the steady rains came. I used a filter to change the sky and slow up the shutter speed. The tripod helps to slow you down and gives you some time to just look through the viewfinder for as long as you want. Slowing the pace down with which you shoot can yield much better pictures and a better understanding of the shot you are trying to take. The sunset at the end of this day was like gravy on mashed potatoes so i shot quite a few pictures and all the way till dark. I have my inspiration back and I shouldn't wait so long to take a trip next time.

Chelsea left some lasting impressions for me. I haven't been this nervous and excited about a new person in quite some time. I'm looking forward to both shooting her again and getting to know her better. :)
The only edit i did was a corp and radial blur. I'm interested on what impressions this photo leaves on you?
Parcevall Hall Gardens are a lasting testament to the remarkable insight of Sir William Milner (1893-1960), 8th Baronet of Nun Appleton, nr York; who in 1927 began on a project to rebuild the derelict 16th /early 17th century shell of Parcevall Hall at Skyreholme, near Appletreewick in North Yorkshire.
Sir William, although standing at a formidable 6’7”, had the reputation of being a gentle giant and despite his title, and having HRH Queen Mary, a frequent visitor to Parcevall Hall, as his Godmother, he was a reluctant socialite.
The final major project of Sir William’s lifetime was as a founder member and second Honorary Director of the Northern Horticultural Society (1955-60), pioneering the establishment and development of Harlow Carr Gardens, near Harrogate.
Once completed, the Hall was to become Sir William’s home for thirty years and he continued to develop the gardens up to his death. Sir William took full advantage of the geography to create a unique garden that provides year round interest.
As a gardener Sir William chose his site wisely. At the top of the gardens the alkaline soil overlays the limestone rock and at the foot of the hill the soil is acid over gritstone, which makes it ideal for a wide range of species and many of Sir William’s hybrid rhododendrons.
For the horticulturist an extensive range of specialist plants flourish throughout the year. This includes an interesting collection of old apple varieties. A wide variety of alpine and woodland plants, unusual perennials and many specimen trees and shrubs.
Visitors will find formal terraces provide vantage points from where they can pause to appreciate the stunning rocky outcrop of Simons Seat
The structured areas are balanced with woodlands that are a haven for wildlife, inter-linked with many garden rooms to discover on the way. For the energetic, a Cliff Walk overlooking the limestone valley of Trollers Gill provides a dramatic vista.
After Sir William’s death the gardens declined up to the mid 1980s. A restoration program commenced; forever changing the gardens are enjoying a vibrant renaissance having been returned to its former glory
But the work does not stop there, the gardens continue to evolve.
The Hall itself is not open to garden visitors and since 1963, has been used by the Bradford Diocese as a retreat house and conference centre; its architectural features can be appreciated at close range from several vantage points.

"In 2016 I received information from NSHSS regarding the AFS-USA program. My son Stephen then a sophomore in high school and I at first thought it would be an excellent opportunity for him to go abroad with the program but after some discussion, we agreed instead to become a host family. This was one of the most rewarding decisions we could have made. In August of 2016 our 1st student arrived. He was around the same age as my son, and although a little shy at first it wasn't long before he settled in as a member of our immediate, extended family and circle of friends as well as creating friends of his own both in the neighborhood and at school. I witnessed first-hand the growth in both boys as they went from being shy acquaintances to becoming fast and lifelong friends. To this day a holiday does not go by without me getting greetings from my son Bautista. Stephen and he are in ongoing communication via social media and firmly support each other as their young lives continue to unfurl. Last year, when my older son graduated from college, Bautista made the trip to Miami to be present at the graduation and to cheer him on. The experience with Bautista was so positive that we decided to host for a 2nd time the following year when we gained a daughter from Switzerland who also has become a lasting member of our family. In 2017 AFS asked me to share my experience in a blog which I was very happy to do to encourage other would be host families.
My one regret is that none of them got the opportunity to go to Orlando while they were with us. Getting this opportunity to reunite with either one of them would put an awesome stamp on what has already been a most amazing experience.

In Loving Memory :
"Pleasure is the flower that passes; remembrance, the lasting perfume...... "
Since this November my family have received seven news of death amongst close relatives or friends. Each news came as a seperate message .
I pray that the Almighty gives strength to survive this difficult times.....
I dedicate this picture in remembrance of departed.....may their soul rest in peace.....
The Shot :
This shot was taken in my garden, on natural light.....
Single shot, hand held capture .
For a period lasting roughly from 2013 to 2015, there was an oil train boom in that mtys coming from Philly refineries went west via the B&O. The loads came via the NYC "Water Level Route" which had gentler grades for the heavy trains. Most of these trains used run-thru power. They weren't the classic SD40-2 and GE Dash7 junkers of 10-15 years ago, but they offered lots of color in a "dark future" Gevo world. At the onset, I went out of my way many times to shoot these visiting engines. After I a while, they became so common place that I stopped caring. After all, at the end of the day...they're still just widebodies.... Anyway, here's a WB stopped at Frederick Jct waiting on a MARC train to head up the branch. It was one of two back-to-back oil trains that afternoon.
This is the 10th year of my ongoing project: Double exposures of my father and me with my Pouva. This time Ore Mountains, Germany.
Some day I might reach the point where I am as old as my father was when I started the project. I like the idea of how both of us change, but that there's always the same difference in age between us.

Vintage: of lasting interest and importance; venerable; classic.
Week 4 of the 52 weeks project! This week's theme is VINTAGE.
I have an obsession with old photographs. I look at them for hours and make up stories about the people in each photo & imagine what their lives were like. I just finished an amazing book, American Photobooth, and now I'm dreaming about owning a vintage photo booth someday.
Sedona trip with my boyfriend for my 18th birthday :)) on a hiking trial.
p.s. he seriously saved me from a (small) river crossing while i had my camera and phone, we took off our shoes and crossed the cold water, almost slipping away, and only to find that there was another river, so we turned back

Friendship is like the breeze,
You can't hold it,
Smell it,
Taste it,
Or know when it's coming,
But you can always feel it,
And you'll always know it's there,
It may come and then go,
But you can know it'll always be back.

Long lasting insecticide nets are effective in keeping children safe from malaria-carrying mosquitos, which tend to bite over night while people are sleeping. In partnership with the Government of Cameroon and The Global Fund, we have distributed 13 million mosquito nets to families to curtail deaths from malaria.
I started from a template and customized, to do the page on the left and then did this one and tweaked. Timeless Holiday Kit from Creative Memories. I am tired, so I have reworked my journaling from what you see here:
I love the wood carvings in this book.
Jane Eyre formed a lasting impression on me. I had trouble reading the book when it started, you really have to pay attention and every sentence is full of meaning. I have been collecting unusual words for my Picture of the Day book. I use them to highlight the pictures or a picture and give the definition. This way I can learn more words. I found a list of words when I opened up my book, Now I can include those in the book I am finishing. Jane always liked to learn and her learning was a stepping stone for her to become independent. I like both those things.
A free spirit who wants to love and be loved
I love the language, the romance, the way Jane feels and thinks.
