"The Conciergerie is a building in Paris, France, located on the west of the Île de la Cité (literally "Island of the City"), formerly a prison but presently used mostly for law courts. It was part of the former royal palace, the Palais de la Cité, which consisted of the Conciergerie, Palais de Justice and the Sainte-Chapelle. Hundreds of prisoners during the French Revolution were taken from the Conciergerie to be executed by guillotine at a number of locations around Paris.
"The west part of the island was originally the site of a Merovingian palace, and was known initially as the Palais de la Cité. From the 10th to the 14th centuries it was the main palace of the medieval Kings of France. During the reigns of Louis IX (Saint Louis) (1214–1270) and Philippe IV (Philip the Fair) (1284–1314) the Merovingian palace was extended and fortified more extensively.
"Despite lasting only ten months, the Reign of Terror (September 1793-July 1794) had a profound effect on France. More than 40,000 people died from execution and imprisonment, and France would not be a republic again for nearly half a century.
"The National Convention enacted the Law of Suspects on September 17, 1793. This act declared that anyone considered a counterrevolutionary or enemy of the republic was guilty of treason and, thus, condemned to death. The Revolutionary Tribunal was set up in the Palace of Justice. The two fates for those sent before the tribunal were acquittal or death, with no possibility of appeal. Antoine Quentin Fouquier-Tinville, a radical, was named public prosecutor. The Tribunal sat in the Great Hall between 2 April 1793 and 31 May 1795 and sent nearly 2,600 prisoners to the guillotine.
"The Conciergerie prison became the main penitentiary of a network of prisons throughout Paris, and was the last place of housing for more than 2,700 people, who were summarily executed by guillotine. The dank dungeons were a stark contrast to the beautiful architecture of the palace above. The quality of life of the prisoners was based mainly on their personal wealth and the whims of the jailers. The revolutionary period continued the prison's tradition of interning prisoners based on wealth, such that wealthier prisoners could rent a bed for 27 livres 12 sous for the first month, 22 livres 10 sous for subsequent months. Even when the price was decreased to 15 livres, the commanders of the prison made a fortune: as the Terror escalated, a prisoner could pay for a bed and be executed a few days later, freeing the bed for a new inmate who would then pay as well. One memoirist termed the Conciergerie 'the most lucrative furnished lodgings in Paris'. Only celebrity prisoners were assigned cells to themselves. Most of the pistole inmates were stuffed into a single room that abutted a local hospital, making disease an inevitability. The cramped cells were infested with rats, and the stench of urine permeated every room."

Only lasting for two years before being seized in late 2017.
What an utter waste!
Still, a typical example of a bright idea gone wrong.
There's more in other states and in the meantime, there may be another one opening somewhere in the new part of Tea Tree Plaza...
Lastings Milledge is an outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here he is to bat against Francisco Cordero of the Cincinnati Reds on April 17, 2010. He came up to bat with 2 outs and the bases loaded. The Reds were ahead 4-3, 1 out away from a victory. Cordero would get Milledge to a full count just needing 1 more strike, but would throw a ball walking in the tying run making the game 4-4. This would set up the next batter, Garret Jones who would step up and drive in the winning run on a walk of single giving the Pirates a 5-4 win.

"If he were a kite we wish that you would be the string to be hold in this hand. No matter where he flies to...two of you can be each other's destination.
Perphaps you don't be a string to tie him, don't want to left him out of large blue sky. Authought you absolutely don't want to do that. Because you have been familar with seeing him by your side for ages"

Use these lasting hinge covers and you’ll save up to 90% of the ost of a colored backboard system — and with colored covers, the planner or installer can color-code individual blocks instead of working in groups of four or eight. Made from flame-retardant thermoplastic, the covers protect the quick clips and provide a convenient surface for marking circuit designations. Each cover is hinged and can be easily removed and replaced. There are two depths for the covers; the standard-profile allows for standard plug-on accessories, and the high-profile cover allows for larger
accessories such as the Colored Bridging Clips.
I can't take the heat, so I go running for cloud cover, whatever cool weather I can find. For a little while, this cemetery hill catches shade, shadows gather and I'm safe from summer. The weeds mask memories, of Mary Letitia and Freddie Tupper – 2 years, 3 months, and 4 days between them. This crooked stone sits in a back corner behind all the others, low to the dirt since the 1880s. No one knows it's here, and I'm the same. So I get down, watch clouds passing until a break starts forming. That's my cue to head for home, go back to hiding where the sun can't find me. Sometimes, I'm exhausted with living, but believe it or not, I'm alive. These lost children remind me that I earned the time it took to get here, so I feel a little better about lasting this long. When falling out of bed feels like just another step in getting an attendance award – showing up still means a lot.

I used to think that love could be simple and lasting. When love was real. When love had no artifices. When you worked everyday for it. When I could epitomize this love in a promenade or in a natural vision. Love was in everything, growing alone and natural.
I used to think that love was like a tree. When time passed love was stronger and it was a privilege to know you had to fight and keep it. Love had to prevail bound even during the worst circumstances. Loyalty and fidelity were not only words but a way of life. An attitude.
It was not so easy to find a right person. There were many persons in this world, but only some at the right time, at the right place. You could be happy with all of them, but you will always remind one... This one crashed into your heart until the end of your time.
Sometimes I can believe in it. I cannot think that it is so unreal when I feel it with all my body and soul. Two persons can be one only warrior. They can fight together searching for their future.
Sometimes I can believe. I have some hopes. I sleep better.

Just 7 years old and due to be exported to Hungary where it proved unsaleable after years in store there!
Parcevall Hall Gardens are a lasting testament to the remarkable insight of Sir William Milner (1893-1960), 8th Baronet of Nun Appleton, nr York; who in 1927 began on a project to rebuild the derelict 16th /early 17th century shell of Parcevall Hall at Skyreholme, near Appletreewick in North Yorkshire.
Sir William, although standing at a formidable 6’7”, had the reputation of being a gentle giant and despite his title, and having HRH Queen Mary, a frequent visitor to Parcevall Hall, as his Godmother, he was a reluctant socialite.
The final major project of Sir William’s lifetime was as a founder member and second Honorary Director of the Northern Horticultural Society (1955-60), pioneering the establishment and development of Harlow Carr Gardens, near Harrogate.
Once completed, the Hall was to become Sir William’s home for thirty years and he continued to develop the gardens up to his death. Sir William took full advantage of the geography to create a unique garden that provides year round interest.
As a gardener Sir William chose his site wisely. At the top of the gardens the alkaline soil overlays the limestone rock and at the foot of the hill the soil is acid over gritstone, which makes it ideal for a wide range of species and many of Sir William’s hybrid rhododendrons.
For the horticulturist an extensive range of specialist plants flourish throughout the year. This includes an interesting collection of old apple varieties. A wide variety of alpine and woodland plants, unusual perennials and many specimen trees and shrubs.
Visitors will find formal terraces provide vantage points from where they can pause to appreciate the stunning rocky outcrop of Simons Seat
The structured areas are balanced with woodlands that are a haven for wildlife, inter-linked with many garden rooms to discover on the way. For the energetic, a Cliff Walk overlooking the limestone valley of Trollers Gill provides a dramatic vista.
After Sir William’s death the gardens declined up to the mid 1980s. A restoration program commenced; forever changing the gardens are enjoying a vibrant renaissance having been returned to its former glory
But the work does not stop there, the gardens continue to evolve.
The Hall itself is not open to garden visitors and since 1963, has been used by the Bradford Diocese as a retreat house and conference centre; its architectural features can be appreciated at close range from several vantage points.

"Death Is Not The End, It Just Means We Live Forever"
death is usually seen as a bad thing,
people cry, people beg,
another chance, another moment
wishing things would not turn this way,
death is not always a bad thing,
think positive,
when you die, you dont end,
you live!
live forever
