These were in the house when we moved in. The dishwasher wasn't even attached to the water. It was just shoved in the space to make it seem it was installed. Fortunately we found someone local who came very quickly and fixed this for us. We were ever so grateful! Both appliances work well.
The previous owner built the half wall and little desk. They're quite convenient and add a bit of separation from the living room. And yes, this is our only dining area. There's supposed to be an area on the other side of the half wall but it's make the living room area quite crowded. Have I mentioned I hate the wallpaper?

My mom made the red curtain to cover the trash/ recycling cans. It has a pattern with small white stars and hands on a tension curtain rod.

Originally took this to send to Jon who's on a tour of Europe (today: Rotterdam, Brussels and Gent) but people seem interested so it can be my PAD. Kitchen taking shape. What you can't see is the space to the right which will eventually be the dining/family room and which is totally full of stuff. Flooring, appliances, junk, wires, stuff.
This cabinet was kind of a miscellaneous cabinet, with medicines, coffee mugs, and lots of junk. This is the first pass of decluttering. More stuff will go on the second pass.
Hanging kitchen cabinets before they were moved to empty wall to right of picture. Moving this cabinet opened up kitchen so when cooking I can see friends sitting at kitchen table plus allows for use of penninsula counter top.

Kitchen (my domain). The paint colours and wallpaper border are going. We bought new stainless steel appliances. We're changing the countertop because it doesn't match my red kitchen shit. Oh yeah, and we're getting rid of those gaudy flowery handles and knobs on the cupboards.
Essentially we're just keeping the floors and the cabinets.

Beautifully designed for such a llittle kitchen, it functions exttremely well. I guess the test will come when I have people around.
I am doing ok, had a few hiccups, my blood pressure went up due to a fair whack of stress, but I have got a handle on it now. Ruby came and stayed last night, I miss her , she can't live with me, beacuse she is registered to Peter, he bought her in his name.

I really wish I'd taken a "Before" shot! This was a spontaneous cleanup project because all of our depleted spice bottles ended up here so I'd remember to go buy more spices. And I never did... so more and more gathered, and other clutter gathered around them, until the big cleanup. Even better, none of the clutter got displaced: we found new homes for everything.
The seed of all this clutter? A fruit bowl, pepper grinder, and salt pig. So now the rule is NOTHING gets to live here. Now we have a food prep counter again! It's parallel to the stove and kitty corner to the sink and fridge, so very handy. Also, it's big enough that both of us can work on it at once.
This was a cheap Cost Plus kitchen island that admirably filled in the big gap in the center of our kitchen, and provided lots of useful storage. We added hooks to it for potholders and towels. And then the clutter struck....
