Microwave your sponges. Make sure your sponge is wet, a fire could screw up your microwave. This sponge has been microwaved and has a satisfying crust of dead bacterial on it. Original story at countzero.com/word/?p=1005
The before shot. It's all in a bit of a mess at the moment having had the builders in this week, but it's already looking completely different.
My lovely kitchen. I believe the appliances are "almond". I try not to think about it too much. I'm allowed to paint, but I doubt I could rip out all of the cabinetry. Just to the right is the sliding door leading to my patio. My patio!

Known as Tulsi (alternate spelling Tulsi, IAST tulsī ) in India it is an important symbol in many Hindu religious traditions which link the plant with the Goddess figure described in the Puranas. The name "Tulasi" in Sanskrit means "the incomparable one"[3]. The Tulasi plant is known in India in two forms - dark or Shyama (Krishna) Tulasi and light or Rama Tulasi. The later (Rama Tulasi) possesses greater medicinal value and is commonly used for worship.
Tulasi has also been used for thousands of years as a prime herb in Ayurvedic treatment, for its diverse healing properties. It is mentioned by Charaka in the Charaka Samhita, the central teaching of Ayurvedic medicine, and in the Rigveda. Tulasi is considered to be an adaptogen, balancing different processes in the body, and helpful for adapting to stress. [4] Marked by its strong aroma and astringent taste, it is regarded as a kind of "elixir of life" and believed to promote longevity.
We don't actually use the breakfast nook/pass-through for eating as thats where we store our bikes down below on the other side. You can see that we have an awkward space next to the fridge that currently holds my cookbooks and the microwave. It's a pretty dark corner - maybe a light on top of the microwave? Is that even safe/ok?

In Agau's parents house in Punan Sama. It's a house on poles, which you can't tell from this. The door to the left leads to the bathroom/toilet. The door to the right leads to the porch, where the fish are smoked in an open-air fire.
On the table is some Tuak (Burak) ricewine, made by Agau's sister, and some snacks. The bungan festival is the time of year where the Punan eat most, there's always food available, and spirits run high.

Quickly made shot when I got a view in the kitchen from a restaurant near Merapi mountain. The food was good. The kitchen not so good....

I've always loved this style of sink - finally have a kitchen which suits one. Conran shop espresso cups from London many years ago.
