Black kitchens may not be for everyone but I find I am increasingly drawn to the dramatic in interiors. I do love a simple white painted wooden kitchen. I have one. But then I painted my shelves black – well dark grey and suddenly the whole room looked better.

Kitchen - old wall oven and space for fridge (space is for 1970 fridge, modern refrigerators will not fit in this space)
The flooring is out and the sheetrock is removed from the offending walls. Now they just need to be torn out.

New appliances, new lights, new cabinets and countertops, a fresh paint job, and some artwork :)
The kitchen here, our inherited chairs are due for some red fabric to replace the old print currently on the seats. We painted the curved wall with the clocks 'winter teal' and the rest of the spacious kitchen a simple gray. The light in the room comes from a great big window opposite where I am standing, that's where we keep our herbs.
