We had the kitchen/dining room floor sanded and polyurethaned. We had to remove everything from the kitchen to do that, so it's all in the living room at the moment.
The counter top is the same flooring material, so we had that sanded also. That got 8 coats of polyurethane. 1 day between coats. We had to remove the sink to do that, so we decided to get a new sink also. However, we don't currently have a schedule for the new sink.
Next step is painting the walls. We've been doing that to the other rooms also, so everything is now out of place. We have 2 chairs we can sit in. The living room is full but we can move through it with care.
Not having a functioning kitchen, we have to eat out a lot. Saves work, but costs a lot of time.
Looking back at the dining end. The new skylight was a major improvement. The dining table is a Victorian pine scullery table which we bought over 40 years ago in Scotland. It expands with a crank to seat 6 when needed. The wall clock is from about 1910, the first antique clock I ever purchased and restored. The distant wall shelves hold Jackie's collection of early children's printed china.
We removed the half wall between the dining room and kitchen and put a brand new peninsula in its place.
This one was a single frame. Flash on 1/16 CL bounced from a wall for a little fill. I think it was around 4pm when this was taken and the light had softened up a fair bit. cc welcome.
Ambient light. Has some blown out spots. It was shoot with ISO 400 with a mistake.. so it got some noise. criticism is welcome!
25mm / f1.4 closed-circuit TV lens, 20 USD on eBay. Sharp in the center, junky focus otherwise, horrible vignetting. This is the kind of lens they photograph you with while you rob a convenience store. But it's fun to fool around with, and the price is exactly what it's worth.

After an addition and remodel this kitchen tripled in size. Custom made cabinets, cherry wood with white melamine interior. Self closing drawers, and soft close doors. Knobs and drawer pulls from Berenson. Golden Crystal Granite, with full height granite splash. Tile laid in an offset pattern
Complete with oak cabinets, lots of extra shelving, an electric stove, refrig, dishwasher and a new garbage disposal. Beautiful Armenian tile above the stove and sink-board add elegance to this space. The door on the left leads to a small pantry area and the carpeted stairs to the master bedroom suite.

I've been working on toning down my exposures. A lot of my shots tend to be on the brighter side, and sometimes parts of the images get washed out. I liked how this image turned out, though not sure if it needs a little bit of contrast in some areas.
I also decided to crop some images like this since some clients want wider shots. I think this crop gives that sense of "wideness" without actually shooting it too wide. It's been positively receptive, so may stick to this cropping for certain comps.
