Portland, Oregon. Eastbound and downtown. I love this city, if you were blindfolded and dropped into the middle of it - you'd think you were in some exotic European city with cobble stone streets, trolley cars, and historic buildings.

This is a closeup of the keypad from an old Underwood typewriter. It is quite a bizarre feeling when you actually type on it.
Some more fun with sun and clouds, taken in this beautiful field of sagebrush and desert flowers just north of Tumalo Reservoir.

It didn't matter whether I was up at the crack of dawn for sunrise, out at high noon, shooting sunset, or amongst the stars in the middle of the night - Crescent Lake is one of the most photogenic miracles of nature I have ever seen.

I love this scene. It's peaceful and serene, if not entirely realistic in color and tone. I added some filters and soft focus to this, and like the dreamy atmosphere that was created. This beautiful beach is in north Kihei on Maui's south shore.

Bend, Oregon on a beautiful sunny evening right before sunset. Dropping low in the sky the sun's rays bounce off the Deschutes River and illuminate the shops, bars, and restaurants in the Old MIll District.

While the rest of Mt. Bachelor ski hill enjoyed a beautiful, warm blue bird day - high atop the Summit Chair, gail force winds, blinding snow drifts, and frigid air awaited those of us foolish enough to chance it. How cold was it, you ask? This is a photo of the top tower, where you get off the Summit Chair - embalmed in ice.

It was a bit of a rainy day today so no real opportunities to get out with the camera unfortunately. So here's a picture of the keypad for the barriers into the campsite.

I was perched high atop a rock bluff waiting for just the perfect mix of sunset colors and hues of gold in the clouds, when these paddler's photobombed my scene ... turns out they actually made the scene that much more interesting, especially in black and white.

Koosah Falls is one of the many incredible waterfalls you see through the McKenzie Pass. The water is crystal clear, cold, and glacier blue as it pools at the bottom of the falls.

Surfin' USA. Not what I'm used to in Maui but perfect lefts and rights peel off here at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City. A wet suit is standard issue, and sharks tend to be Great Whites. But the waves are perfect, and surfers start showing up before sunrise for dawn patrol.

Are you an artist? Have you ever become creatively blocked? Try dedicating every single day for a year to being creative... you might just lose your mind... Tonight Shelby participated in a little painting of the walls with me and without lack of creativeness helped with this concept. Probably one of the most fun shoots I've had. Of course, when wasn't throwing paint everywhere fun!? Shelby didn't do too bad for her first time in front of the camera either. And again, working with other creatives is always has it's rewards. Shelby had threw out a concept at me that was quite similar to one I had floating about in my head, and since she had a blank canvas and the rest of the props, all we needed to do was get together and make it happen. No artist's block happening here tonight! In asking her what her favorite things to paint were, she said "People." So I made a request- to paint any one of my photos she likes. This should be interesting. Let's hope she's up for the challenge... ;) Thanks again Shelby!
Oh, and yes- the paint was all quite wet here still!

This grand entrance to an area ranch is located south of Bend in Tumalo. What lies beyond this tree lined boulevard remains a mystery. Just beyond the end of the driveway there is a peekaboo view of one of the Sisters snowcapped mountains.

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful lakes in all of Oregon. And yes, the water really is that color. It's called Devil's Lake, and named so because of the fiery volcanic and hellish conditions it was created under. You can see the remains of the lava flow behind the tree lines in this photo.

I love all the layers and textures in this photo. The trees silhouetted in the foreground, the volcanic cinder cones layered in mist in the middle, and the beautiful sunset casting light over it all.

When I was a kid, my parents would joke when we were doing something particularly fun ... "I wonder what the other half are doing". We weren't rich but that was the joke. According to the political pundits now we're down to the "One Percent" ... and I guess THIS is how THEY live. That is one house, and the guest quarters can't be seen. Bend being the destination that it is, this is the neighborhood that actors and athletes like Matthew Fox and Drew Bledsoe live.

It was a cold, frigid 17 degrees F' this morning in Bend - and this scene greeted me as I was dropping my daughter off at daycare. Smoke billowing from a chimney hit the rising sunlight and created the most amazing silhouettes amongst the tree branches.

On most days the ocean waters in the Makena - La Perouse area are as calm as a lake and crystal clear. This late summer swell brought some big waves to the south shore, and stopping the waves at high shutter speed really highlighted the dramatic patterns created by the white wash.

At roughly ten stories high, Proxy Falls are so intense in size and magnitude that you can just photograph sections of the falls and still get dramatic results. This image represents just the lower one third of the falls, and its still breath taking.

Last night a photographer buddy & I headed out on the Cascade Highway to Mt. Bachelor to shoot some night shots. The moon was new and the isolation on this highway made for pure skies and very little light pollution. Our reward was every star imaginable and the Milky Way in all it's majesty.

Black Mask presses the up button on the elevator and tries to find the number of his office
Black Mask: “God dammit, how many floors are there in this place.”
He presses 54 on the elevator keypad and the door closes. He hums the entertainer for a couple minutes when the elevator door opens, revealing his office. Wood flooring with white walls, and a black ceiling including a bar, multiple couches, a spot under the floor to store dead people, and a large desk with a massive window watching over Gotham city.
Black Mask: “I love this place.”
He jumps onto his chair and relaxes, undisturbed, peaceful. BEEP. His phone buzzed loudly startling him. He picks it up.
Black Mask: “WHAT DO YOU WANT JESSICA.”
Jessica was Black Mask’s secretary.
Jessica: “Sir, some face’s want to see you downstairs.”
Black Mask sighed, this was code for meeting with the False Facers.
Black Mask: “Tell them to wait 2 hours, because I’M TRYING TO RELAX!”
Jessica: “It’s urgent.”
Black Mask: “Is it worth my time.”
Jessica: “Some GCPD news.”
Black Mask: “I'll be down in a second.”
Black Mask sighs and walked over to the wall, pressed a button. The door slid away revealing a secret elevator. He pressed the down button, and the door closed. The elevator came to a halt and the door opened, revealing a giant table with the False Facers around it.
Black Mask: “Take off those masks, this isn’t a ****ng tribe is it now.”
The False Facers removed their masks and set them on the table.
Black Mask: “ I heard something about the GCPD, spill.”
He jumps into his chair as one of the members stood up.
Facer 1: “We overheard Gordon talking about breaking into here to steal our files.”
Black Mask: “That’s it. I mean Gordon has been on our tails for years, this is nothing new.”
Facer 1: “He said that someone left a footprint on your file in the GCPD evidence room.”
Black Mask: “Who was it?”
Facer 1: “Facer 9”
Black Mask: “Was it on purpose?”
Facer 1: “Most likely not, he’s been with us for a while.”
Black Mask: “Is he here?”
Facer 1: “He’s where you would think he would be.”
Black Mask slouched more comfortably in his chair.
Black Mask: “Excellent, does he know about Gordon?”
Facer 1: “Yes, Facer 246 reported it to him.”
Black Mask: “Good, and how is Facer 246 behaving?”
Facer 1: “Very respectful, he has reported everything without any hesitation, very loyal.”
Black Mask: “Very good, just make sure he keeps reporting because if the GCPD finds out, this whole mole operation would be crumbled.”
Facer 1 sat down in chair as Black Mask sat up.
Black Mask: “Ok, anything else you guys want to tell me?”
The room was dead silent.
Black Mask: “Well thanks, I just wasted a solid 5 minutes coming down to get information that you guys could’ve sent me through a ****ING TEXT. THINK PEOPLE.
He got up and headed for the elevator door. It opened and he walked in, pressed the up button, and the doors closed.
Black Mask: “I swear to God the next time I’m going to see Gordon, I’m going to blow his brains out.”
Elevator stopped at his office, and Black Mask walked in and jumped in his chair and glazed outside his window. He sees the GCPD building all the way out there in the distance.
Black Mask: “Which is going to be very soon…”
He relaxes in his chair and sighs in relief, waiting for what’s coming next….
A shorter chapter I know, but definitely needed for the story. I'm leaving for my schools spring break band and choir trip tomorrow, so no anything for about 2 weeks, so yeah...

I took this photo earlier this year on a cold, damp winter night in downtown Portland, Oregon. The color version was decent, but this monochrome treatment seems to capture the mood and energy of Portland on a drizzly night perfectly.
