One of many can be found under the Spaghetti Junction.

And one would say here: Thank God that they're his too!

The construction of (Spaghetti Junction) is a key meeting point in the Birmingham motorway network and, to make the construction even more taxing, the junction spans the main railway line, two rivers and three canals.

Many thanks for your cool comments from you here, my cool flickr friends !!!

31449 on the up fast is about to pass Kirkham North Junction box with the 13.20 Blackpool North - Manchester Victoria.

This was one of the busiest locations in the whole country on a summer Saturday with routes diverging left via the coast through Lytham, straight on to Poulton and Blackpool North and diverging left by the outer home signal to Blackpool Central via the 'Marton line' through Blackpool South.

* The abutments of the 'Flyover' from the up fast line can be seen in the distance and the alignment is clearly seen in the grass above the 31.

* The M55 Motorway is now built on the alignment of the 'Marton line' all the way to Blackpool South and was always my favourite route into Blackpool, happy days.

On a summer's evening in May 1988, the nominally daily MGR 7O85 Toton to Northfleet heads south past the switched out signal box at Neasden Junction behind large loco liveried 56097.

The train is heading for the Blue Circle cement works at Northfleet providing coal to operate the kilns at the plant.

Neasden Junction is on the freight only line connecting the Midland mainline at Cricklewood with the Great Western mainline and the Southern Region via Kew.

Surprisingly, in early 2022 the three signal boxes on this route at Dudding Hill, Neasden Junction and Acton Canal Wharf are all still operational.

A train of empties has arrived at the Conrail yard in Mingo Junction, Ohio. A GP38 leads two C430’s on a hot August day.

We enjoyed three perfect sunny days on our trip to shoot the BDRD/RDBD detours and I got lots of pics of them, so I'll take my time spacing out uploads from the chases. Here's another I liked, with the BDRD heading south past the station at White River Junction, VT. On the left is an NECR GP38 that had worked the NECR 600 local crew the previous day.

When coming back to SL today after celebrating my Bday for several days (dinners out),

I noticed the super cool review of Frank in his ARTKORNER ( www.artkornersl.com/post/junction-points-selen-finding-yo...)

Love not only his indepth review but also the great images he made of Selen's works.

Please read his review and do visit Nitroglobus to enjoy the art and video of Selen with your own virtual eyes.

With two Alco C430’s trailing, a Conrail GP38 leads a power set into the engine terminal at Mingo Junction, Ohio for servicing.

Conrail train ALCA (Allentown, PA – Camden, NJ) rolls through Valley Junction on the west side of Reading, Pennsylvania. Clapham Junction is famous for having one of the busiest rail stations in the whole of Europe, making it a significant transportation hub.

essence, Clapham Junction remains more than just a station; it is a landmark of connectivity, resilience, and historical intrigue, standing proudly as a symbol of London’s enduring spirit and its complex, fascinating history.

There's little to suggest the present-day Northwich was once a stronghold of steam traction, nor host to a sizeable locomotive depot serving the significant local industrial interests (limestone, coal, coke, and chemical traffic typically), as well as supporting other through freight traffic from around the North-West.

The depot saw a variety of codes throughout its life but was known as 8E from 1958-1973, and thereafter NW until its closure in 1984. In the early 1960s it wasn't unusual to see up to twenty 8Fs stabled there over a weekend, but with the advent of the diesel era, and then the gradual erosion of wagonload traffic through the 1970s, this transitioned to typically a handful of class 40s, a few class 25s, and a couple of class 08 shunters. Located on the plot of land behind me on my left, the area has now been redeveloped into residential housing - in this instance accessed by Pullman Drive, rather an odd choice of name given, to my knowledge, Northwich never saw anything resembling a Pullman train.

This shot was taken from the Middlewich Road overbridge and features Sandbach Junction. The line to the left is a single track freight-only route through Middlewich which eventually joins the West Coast Main Line at Sandbach. As can be seen from the state of the rails, it still sees several trains per week. It's quite a tight triangle here and the other side of it runs between the hedge and the houses in the left middle distance. The rather duller link just in front of me from the freight loop to the Down line (towards Greenbank and Chester) sees rather less use. In steam days the turnout just here was in fact a single slip, which gave access to the Up line too - a facility locos heading for the depot would no doubt have made use of.

Much of the freight traffic passing through Northwich these days consists of domestic and industrial waste en route for processing, and biomass pellets heading from Liverpool Port to Drax Power Station. There's also some stone traffic movement too from Tunstead heading South. In this shot a clean DB Cargo 'Shed', unit 66019, was snapped approaching the station with the 10.51am Knowsley Freight Terminal - Wilton EFW Terminal (6E26) loaded waste containers.
