The IC's Paducah Shops modernized this Baldwin locomotive with 22½x30-inch cylinders and 62-inch drivers during World War 2, resulting in 48,930 pounds of tractive effort – making this Consolidation very capable for the way freight assignment.

This paint job makes for a much better transition in the ceiling height here.
My local Walmart recently under went a slight remodel in adding new signage as well as a slight rearrangement in aisles for some departments. I figured I'd take some photos of all the new sights. Pictures of the old arrangements can be found in the same album.

To the uninitiated, it’s a simple summer job; a chance to make some easy money before heading back to school in the fall. In this small town, the legacy of a summer job has been passed down from one family member to the next for uncounted generations.
What is learned, through failure and triumph, are the complicated lessons of living outside the comfort and support of family and friends. We learn to cope with boredom and mindless repetition. We learn to acknowledge being seen as what we represent, rather that what we believe we are. We learn to adapt to unexpected change. We learn the art of gracious gratitude. We learn to accept the bad stuff.
Somewhere in this world, a waitress will become a superstar. Somewhere, a busboy will become a hero. Somewhere, a girl will suddenly become a woman.
Reading back on the history of this area is quite interesting. Around 100 years ago there was an automobile crash here. Apparently young folks from NYC used to race down to AC and at this spot there was a very narrow gravel road and bridge over the creek. Around 1920 one car crashed and ended up in the river. All occupants died and were pulled from the river and laid out on the porch of the New Gretna House.
