DOT Art in partnership with the DOT Bike Share Program presents, “Big City of Dreams,” an asphalt mural painted by New York native, Andrea “Queen Andrea” von Bujdoss. Located at Roebling Street and North 4th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the mural is set across the street from the McCaig Welles Gallery, the first “urban art” gallery in Williamsburg and the first gallery to represent Andrea von Bujdoss. The mural serves as an abstract representation of the diverse and dynamic aspects of life in New York. Queen Andrea uses her background in graffiti and typography to create a mash-up of patterns and uplifting phrases. Viewers are encouraged to engage with the piece and discover the pattern that most resounds with them, making this piece not only eye-catching, but also interactive.

Night at the Climb In will be a 70 foot tall stack of reclaimed junkyard cars, stacked straight up, one on top of the next. Every car will be climbable, visitable, interactive in its own way. The stack will end in a crows nest that sits at the top of the structure, just under a large spinning lit up sign.

This interactive installation uses a pressure pad to activate a small video projector that places an image in a bird's nest lined with white feathers. It addresses human intervention in the natural environment. The state of the world is increasingly fragile, and one of the most important tensions of our time is between our attitude towards the earth as a resource to be used or as an entity to be cared for. The nest acknowledges the frail, breakable nature of the world while the video presents more and more abstract images of the earth that we have increasingly come to dominate, subdivide, map, and subjugate. Stepping on the footprint activates the video loop, and echoes the footsteps, marching, and stomping of booted feet that overlay maps of increasing antiquity. A soundtrack composed of birdsong provides a counterpoint to the images.

To further discuss the high-potential and the important role of youth in society, the International Labour Organization (ILO) organized an interactive discussion on youth employment titled “The Future is Yours: Bridging the Gap of Work for Indonesian Youth” on Saturday, 29 October 2016, at Museum Nasional, Jakarta, from 10.00-12.00 WIB. The discussion is conducted in conjunction with the commemoration of the 71th Anniversary of the United Nations.
The key speakers for this interactive talk include inspiring young speakers Surya Sahetapy, a young disability advocate and Vania Santoso, young socio-preneur known for her eco-fashion business named HeySTARTIC. They will share their life experiences, aspirations and achievements to further inspire other Indonesian youth to reach for their own potentials.
