Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I just caught sight of the 'Interact' notice and loved the juxtaposition, despite it being quite subtle in the frame. Enjoy!
We saw two pods of resident orcas, J Pod and L Pod, and were extremely fortunate to see the two pods interact with each other.
A juvenile Barred Owl being preened by the adult. Occasionally the adult would stop to look around as there were a couple of noisy jays in the area.
Thank you for viewing.

I know the school of thought that you should ask a human subject for permission to take their picture, which I agree is nice for some situations, but it doesn't allow you to capture the unselfconscious ballet of human behavior. (Here, admittedly, self-consciousness is on display, but that's the charming point.) We in fact did interact before and after I shot this, and they were aware that I was there shooting them shooting each other.

A bow over a northwest wetland.
A fog bow is produced when sunlight interacts with very small water droplets in fog, mist, or cloud, rather than with raindrops as in a traditional rainbow. The colors of a fog bow are faint due to the diffraction effect of the smaller droplets.

This beautiful bird is a Northern Emerald Toucanet, or just Emerald Toucanet in some circles. (There are several subspecies.) My guide, Kenneth, knew where it was nesting which allowing us to wait for it to come to the nest in order to get an approach to landing shot like this. Thanks Kenneth! I’ve read that they are a popular pet and interact nicely with their human. Hopefully they are captive bred and not taken from the environment. (Aulacorhynchus prasinus)

Dont think just about your chance of getting infected.
Imagine that you do have the virus. ...and then change behaviour so that you are less likely to transmit it to others.
This virus needs us to to complacently interact to help it transmit. It needs us to ignore public health messaging. It needs us to not care about others that are more vulnerable than us.
Think social distancing, including children, & protecting older/vulnerable. We are going to be at this for a long time and we need to get good at it.
What happens in London over next few days will be mirrored in rest of UK in the following 14 days. We all have a role to play. ..both what we do and what we say to others.

Though it resembles a peaceful rose swirling in the darkness of the cosmos, NGC 3256 is actually the site of a violent clash. This distorted galaxy is the relic of a collision between two spiral galaxies, estimated to have occurred 500 million years ago. Today it is still reeling in the aftermath of this event.
Located about 100 million light-years away in the constellation of Vela (The Sails), NGC 3256 is approximately the same size as our Milky Way and belongs to the Hydra-Centaurus Supercluster. It still bears the marks of its tumultuous past in the extended luminous tails that sprawl out around the galaxy, thought to have formed 500 million years ago during the initial encounter between the two galaxies, which today form NGC 3256. These tails are studded with young blue stars, which were born in the frantic but fertile collision of gas and dust.
When two galaxies merge, individual stars rarely collide because they are separated by such enormous distances, but the gas and dust of the galaxies do interact – with spectacular results. The brightness blooming in the centre of NGC 3256 gives away its status as a powerful starburst galaxy, host to vast amounts of infant stars born into groups and clusters. These stars shine most brightly in the far infrared, making NGC 3256 exceedingly luminous in this wavelength domain. Because of this radiation, it is classified as a Luminous Infrared Galaxy.
NGC 3256 has been the subject of much study due to its luminosity, its proximity, and its orientation: astronomers observe its face-on orientation, that shows the disc in all its splendour. NGC 3256 provides an ideal target to investigate starbursts that have been triggered by galaxy mergers. It holds particular promise to further our understanding of the properties of young star clusters in tidal tails.
As well as being lit up by over 1000 bright star clusters, the central region of NGC 3256 is also home to crisscrossing threads of dark dust and a large disc of molecular gas spinning around two distinct nuclei – the relics of the two original galaxies. One nucleus is largely obscured, only unveiled in infrared, radio and X-ray wavelengths.
These two initial galaxies were gas-rich and had similar masses, as they seem to be exerting roughly equal influence on each other. Their spiral disks are no longer distinct, and in a few hundred million years' time, their nuclei will also merge and the two galaxies will likely become united as a large elliptical galaxy.
NGC 3256 was previously imaged through fewer filters by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope as part of a large collection of 59 images of merging galaxies, released for Hubble's 18th anniversary on 24 April 2008.

This renowned Hong Kong bakery has several branches around Hong Kong, but Yuen Long is its home — the bright and bustling scarlet-hued shop still occupies the original early 20th-century building in which it was founded. Specialising in traditional Chinese pastries, it’s the go-to for traditional wife cake (a flaky pastry filled with winter melon and almond paste), autumnal mooncakes, honeycomb egg rolls and other sinfully good treats. Buy to eat on the go or take home as edible souvenirs.

Acorn Woodpeckers live in oak and mixed oak-evergreen forests in the Southwest. However, since these guys live in California, they can stash their stash where else? - in palm trees. If I were writing captions, which I enjoy doing with interacting pairs, I might write "do you think we have enough, or should we keep going?"
You might remember an image I posted a few weeks ago, where the little guy was stuffing his booty in a fence post.

This is a shot of Jackson, Jessica, and Joshua feeding one of two manatees. They got to interact with both the manatees and dolphins at Dolphin Discovery at Puerto Aventuras, south of Cancun, Mexico. The manatees were of course only interested in the food the kids were holding. The kids were told by the people at Dolphin Discovery they were helping to train the manatees by only giving them lettuce after a whistle blew.

I spent the day in Crestone, Colorado enjoying the autumn colors, the mountain views, and the company of some wonderful denizens of Crestone.

In the truth of how I get the images I just do images of flying objects. I hope they will be art at the end of the day. Or night in the way I work. In the years from 2006 when I fist started this abstract color imagery I have found a way to enjoy looking more deeply at other abstract images. I found only a few abstracts I liked just a few years back. I feel I have grown to see better now then I did then.

Father and son collaboration
Our photographic art is a kinetic motion study, from the results of interacting with my son A.J and his toys.
He was born severely handicapped much like a quadriplegic. On December 17,1998. Our family’s goal has always been to help A.J. use his mind, even though he has minimal use of his body.
A.J. likes to watch lights and movement. One of the few things he can do for himself is to operate a switch that sets in motion lights and various shiny, colorful streamers and toys that swirl above his bed.
One day I took a picture of A.J. with his toys flying out from the big mobile near his bed like swings on a carnival ride. I liked the way the swirling objects and colors looked in the photo.
I wanted to study the motion more and photograph the whirling objects in an artful way, I wanted my son A.J. to be a part of it. After all, he’s the one who inspires me. When A.J. and I work together on our motion artwork, A.J. starts his streamers and objects twirling, I take the photographs.
Activating a tiny switch might not seem like much to some, but it’s all A.J. can do. He controls the direction the mobile will spin, as well as when it starts and stops. The shutter speeds are long, and sometimes, I move the camera and other times I hold it still.
I begin our creation with a Nikon digital camera. Then I use my computer with Photoshop to alter the images into what I feel might be an artistic way. Working with Photoshop, I find the best parts from several images and combine them into the final composite photograph. I consider the finished work to be fine art. The computer is just the vehicle that helps my expressions grow.
I take the photographs and A.J. adds the magic. It’s something this father and son do together. After I’ve taken a few shots, I show him the photos in the back of the camera. When the images are completed, I show him from a laptop. He just looks. He can’t tell me whether or not he likes the images, but he’s always ready to work with me again.
It offers me my only glance into A.J.’s secret world. We’ve built a large collection of images and I hope the motion and color move you as much as they do me.
A.J. inspires me to work harder to understand my life in the areas of art, photography, people, spirituality, and so much more. He truly sets my mind in motion and helps me find the beauty in everyday things.
