Built on the royal orders of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate maximum of 1,100 people. This opera house, became the first in the world equipped with Radio Marconi's multimedia interactive display seatback system, Mode23.
The Phæno Science Center is an interactive science center in Wolfsburg, Germany, completed in 2005. Phæno arose from urban planning by the City of Wolfsburg. In 1998 City officials were developing a plot of vacant, public land immediately adjacent to Wolfsburg's railway station and just south of VW's huge, then-unfinished attraction Autostadt. An art museum was planned for the site, but Dr. Wolfgang Guthardt, then the City's Director for Culture, Sports and Education, knew that such an institution would compete with Wolfsburg's successful Kunst Museum (Art Museum) and needed other options. Guthardt visited Technorama, a science center in Switzerland and became convinced that a science center in Wolfsburg would complement both Autostadt and the Kunst Museum

It had been about 7 years since I had last used my panoramic head, a Nodal Ninja 3. This pano has 26 pictures : 3 rows of 8 pictures + 1 zenith + 1 nadir, stitched together using Hugin.
Vaulted ceilings always provide for more room and height to design your ceilings. With T&G ceilings, this interactive space has been designed with class and elegance. Wood is the dominant material in the design and is used well for the furniture, floors and the ceiling. It's also present as the cladding for the central fireplace feature that stands out.

During a break from photographic road trip adventures and editing over the Christmas Holiday's, I occasionally had a peek into the iPhoto library at past wintery scenes and places archived. I seriously didn't know where to start. Our seasonal temperatures in Southern Alberta reached a 100 year record high on Wednesday at 15C. We'll need to import snow very soon. A year ago we were freezing in frigid temperatures and relocating snow banks.
Interact versus Interac was also a reoccurring theme in my head over the holidays. The credit card spending variety versus the hub or rural meeting place, the crumbling rural small town General Store registered from a bygone time. Somewhere near Lemsford/Prelate in Saskatchewan I discovered this memory, a place where strangers were known, deals likely created, and friendly faces comforting. I'm not certain Interac was in the development IT laboratories. But I do believe plenty of Interacting was good medicine.

NGC 3718, also called ARP 214, is a galaxy located approximately 52 million light years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major and has a diameter of about 110,000 light years. It is either a lenticular or spiral galaxy.
NGC 3718 has a warped, s-shape. This may be due to gravitational interaction between it and NGC 3729, another spiral galaxy located 150,000 light-years away.
NGC 3718 is a member of the Ursa Major Cluster.
To the right of NGC 3718 is the remarkable Hickson Group 56. The Hickson Group 56 is made up of five interacting galaxies and is more than 400 million light years away.

This image is featured in a, soon to be released, book of ours. It's a children's book called "Minimonster i naturen" (= "Mini-monsters in nature" – see, Swedish is easier than it sounds!) and the topic is – surprise, surprise – bugs! Hanna (my wife) is the author and Bruno (our son) is the main character. I'm happy to contribute with the images!
This is a two shot composite of a seven-spot ladybird about to take off from my son's index finger.
Shot with Canon 5DmkII + Nikkor 20/3.5 on a short extension tube. Natural light balanced out with diffused flash in the foreground.

The festival of lights in Brussels
Bright Brussels, the festival of lights returns to brighten up the capital this winter!
Four evenings and three routes will take you on a journey to discover of some twenty immersive and poetic artistic works. From 10 to 13 February, the Royal Quarter, the European Quarter and the Flagey neighborhood will be illuminated by enchanting light installations. The festival will also feature a fringe programme, including evening events in the museums.
It's become a tradition for the lights of Bright Brussels to warm us up in the dead of winter and, best of all, it's completely free!
