Conversations about levels of interactivity used in the design on an online "How to create a paper plane".
Last Wednesday of the month is an inter-generational mingling called Generations of Pride. Sponsored by some community groups and LBGTQ Western, it's a chance for WWU students and many other folks from various generations to gather.
January's event was a drag show at Mt. Baker Theater's smaller theater called The Walton.
At first, I was thinking of not going as I tend to like interactive events, versus sitting in an audience watching the stage. The inter-generational events have both interactive and some staged events.
I decided to boost the interactive aspect, for me, by showing up in drag. I had a holy (full of holes) cloth and bought a wig at Good Will. Problem was that the theater was filled to capacity when I got there.
With no more room at the theater, plan B was to go to the small dinner group, I organize (the Wednesday Night Dinner) at nearby Bellingham Bar and Grill. Surprise the folks there. Both events were happening at the same time as Bellingham gets more and more choices. That night, people could go to either event.
The selfie, at the Theater, was the most important part so I handed my phone to an usher at the door for her to take my selfie proving I got to the front entrance at least. Then someone left the theater making room for me to squeeze in under the capacity limit.
I mingled, for a bit, in the lobby that was filled with many WWU students and a scattering of more familiar, to me, townsfolk.
Students liked my unusual, sort of semi drag, while townsfolk, that I know, were slightly impressed, but not totally surprised that I would do something like that.

Concept for a interactive tram for the KB (Royal Dutch Library). Passengers can use augmented reality in combination with the touch window/sreens to search in the collection of the KB. If they find anything they like, they can send the information as a text-message or email, or get out at the KB stop to get the item they want.
Scenes from COSI's "Weather Watch" interactive videoconference program for grades 4-7.
Here, COSI demonstrator Patrick Roach leads sixth-grade students in Lewisburg, Tennessee, as they learn how changes in air pressure and temperature can affect the weather.
Students also took and used readings from barometers and thermometers to help them predict basic weather patterns. They explored air pressure using everyday objects and understood why changes in weather often occur around cold and warm fronts.
COSI's "Weather Watch" program includes a classroom kit for up to 30 students. Extra kits are available.

Through interactive workshops, showcases, keynote speeches and high-level discussions, the conference will provide a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the multilingual ESCO classification and its role in reducing job mobility barriers and facilitating cooperation across borders as well as between employment and education sectors.
The event will facilitate the exchange of ideas among a great variety of stakeholders, from policy-makers to leaders of public and private employment services, job boards, the education/training sector, employers, skills councils and networks, statistical organisations and social partners.

SENSOR SYSTEM
MYSTICAL COMPUTER ENVIRONMENTS
A Mystical, interactive, aesthetic, computer experience.
The Sensor System was used as part of Padgett’s artist-in-residency at Loughborough University with the C&CRS for COSTART, partly funded by the EPSRC Grant GR/M14517 Studies of Computer Support for Creative Work, Artists and Technologists in Collaboration.
8 sensors are located on each side of a 365cm x 365cm frame at 30cm high. The frame is in front of a screen 245cm wide and 180cm high. One person rotates the shape and chooses the colour, one person walks in the frame and extrudes smaller basic shapes.
When people move in the installation squares are generated in the axis they move. Rotation is added and intergalactic patterns result.
This interactive work breaks down the subject/object dualisms as the participant is also the work. Participants move around a sensor system to produce moving abstract designs that are purely aesthetic and join 2D design with a 3D, mystical, inner space.
