illutron & GeekPhysical teamed up to bring an intense 3 day workshop to Aalborg University students. Day 1 was with Vanessa and introduced students to rapid prototyping, learning from the industry, design in the real world, design methods and introduction to Arduino. Day 2 and 3 were get-dirty days with Dzl and illutron member Christian Liljedahl as they tore into scrap electronics, toys and other 'junk' to help students identify components and their properties, and create intriguing projects that were displayed for family, friends, and the public in an exhibition the next day.

the device is split into four sections, the top section shows the heart rate display, as the cycle is stationary the average heart rate is display (you can see I was not working too hard!). Below is current speed (bike is stationary therefore speed is 0kmh), next section is (currently set to) temperature display. 25 degrees C is quite nice in Portsmouth!

This week, we will answer the following question: “How does the brain choose to guide the eye from one place to the other?”
Yes, you read it correctly. Because it is the brain that guides the eye so it can find the information the brain needs to solve a task.

A multitouch, multiuser Flickr and Yahoo! Maps mashup. Visitors can select images from the map, resize and reposition them and retrieve titles and descriptions. They can interact with the map using a floating navigational "orb." The table has 50" surface. The photograph is from an installation at the Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo, Texas.
You can learn about this multitouch mapping application and the multitouch table on the Ideum website.

A screen design from the EM Spectrum exhibit. The dimensions are 2304 x 800 pixels, a 16 x 5 aspect ratio. The exhibit allows up to eight people to simultaneously interact.
This exhibit runs a 100" multitouch, multiuser exhibit table developed by Ideum with the Adventure Science Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The table has two computers and projects and a contiguous surface that allows several people to interact simultaneously with the same program.
Last’s week thesis committee review sparked a multitude of ideas and directions for how I might take my current investigation of technological individualism further.
This week I’ve been rapidly ideating and sketching out some concepts and brief projects in response—in order to incorporate making into the decision-moving process itself.

Ajax and the Lightbox effect gone bad. Rent.com forces me to "create a password" to "keep my activities private" - when all I'm doing is trying to browse. Plus, they remind me that I haven't claimed my $100 reward. I have no way to continue until I fill in that password. The funny thing is, on the initial landing page for this property, I explicitly told them that I didn't want any $100 reward. Come on eBay, you can do better than this.
