Ancient Greeks had their Sirens, whose haunting songs lured many a seafarer to his death. 15th century explorers returned to Europe with tales of sea creatures with the body of a woman and fishes’ tails instead of legs. The sailors claimed that these mysterious creatures were as deadly as the Sirens of old, and would lure them into the water by pretending they were drowning.

I've received my copy of "Begining gimp, from novice to professional. Second Ed." and I've been working my way throught it. Its an excellent book with some great examples. I'm up to chapter six at the moment, however I though a quick revisit of some old pictures was in order, based on my new knowledge :)

Visual Design Theory. Based on one of the classes that I teach. While there is a photo in here somewhere this is more about illustration. Some of the images are created with a 3D program. Many are created in Illustrator and the whole image was put together with Photoshop. 24x39

I hope you like…(should you wish to) feel free to use it.

The original size is 1280 x 800 (mac screen) but I'll be happy to modify for more screen sizes…

Dad took us to the Waffle House for breakfast, afterward he had to smoke so I played with my camera. Dad asked "Why is she taking a picture of the wall? The fam says "For Flickr" in unison. "Whats a Flickr...?" Yall know the deal. After some splaining he was all into it (Whata Guy) adding ideas of his own.

He said He "Couldnt get a computer because he'd get addicted and would never leave the screen." The fam points at me in unison. (Sheesh)

Steeped in myth and legend, castles have an ambiance and magic of a time long-forgotten. In a castle located deep in the English countryside, it is said that you can hear the rustle of her ghostly dress as she walks the corridors in search of her long, lost husband.

This is an illustration and photomontage stitched together in Photoshop. The castle is an original photograph I took at St. Michael’s Mount in England.

The cloud and very distant trees are real as it is a view from my bedroom window. The view is towards Castle Eden Dene near Peterlee, County Durham. The trees in the foreground and the distance lightning are all additions via brushes, I darkened the lower portion of the foreground as it was originally rooftops. The birds are custom shapes. Photoshop is all about having a little fun and seeing how I could enhance the scene around this lovely looking cloud.
