I usually don't waste a shot and each shot is precious to me. I think it is because I started with film cameras and the cost involved is a lot more in those and you have to be careful. Old habits die hard!
I was at this falls on a cold day and after taking shots from the side (you have seen a couple of those), I wanted to get a straight shot of a part of the falls. I had to wade through slick rocks in the frigid water (tripod unstable) and was standing in knee deep water to take this shot, free hand long exposure. It looked ok on the monitor but when I came back home, it had shaken (after all, it was handheld, what did I expect?, dumb, dumb me!). I just loved the falls from that view and thought of playing around with it in PS and restore it (hehe I like that term- gives some quality to the original!). I wanted to start off with a watercolor effect (maybe because I have picturised this in my mind for a long time, just havent had the time to paint it) and once I saw the effect, I looked no further. I just loved it!
Hope you like it too :-)
Have a wonderful Thursday!
Natural Dam Falls is just off AR-59, about 15 miles north of I-40 and AR-59 intersection at Alma, AR. It is not too tall (about 8') but spans the entire width of the creek and is a sight during high waters!
I recommend Large on Black!
flickr Explore 8 Feb 2007 #106 Thank you all!
Originally inspired by the 'Wanted' movie poster. A moments reflection after the hideous deed has been done.
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

Thanks to DeviantArt for cool background elements.
Thank you Kayla.
Tomb Raider meets Splinter Cell in this quickie composite I put together whilst waiting for a load of camera batteries to charge :)
Photograph "painted over" in Corel Painter IX.5
Going through a steep learning curve here, folks. Bear with me.
From a scanned photo taken in 1987.
While it was a beautiful scene, the photo was not of the quality I like to post on Flickr.
Finishing touches done in Paint Shop Pro X.
See it LARGE.

Still young... still with dreams.
Still hoping and dreaming about another world, a world full of magic.
Can I ever enter this fantasyworld...
Who knows.

The idea for this manipulation came to life with photographer Adam Shane. We wanted to put a girl in a scenery who's dreaming about a fantasyworld out of her reach. The dream is so vivid, that she could almost enter the magical place.
Amost... because she is dreaming, daydreaming...
With a bunch of beautiful photo's from Adam and the idea in my head I started working on this. Nothing you see is original anymore. I used more than 8 photo's, two of them more than once.
A part of the bridge is painted, even so a part of the wall and plants.
Did a lot of retouching (girl) and I'd like to mention that there were no brushes or textures involved.
This probably doesn't look really complicated, but it actually was kinda difficult to make. ;-) Anyways... I hope you find it original and beautiful. :)

You had better wear a Poncho, it's really Saturated! out here! And keep an eye out for the Black Bear that shredded the Hemlock on the right!
Orton applied at 85, 8, 100.
A couple of additional adjustment layers from the Gimp (initial adjustments via Capture NX), for local contrast etc.
Composition is slightly off I feel due to having to crop a little off the right for a person walking into the scene as i shot. I carelessly didn't see them until i got home! : (
... this is how my soul feels sometimes

As you look through the wavy glass of the 108 year old kitchen window, you see a forsythia plant outside and also the exterior of the home. That exterior wall comes in at an *L* shape to the kitchen. The window in that wall was my bedroom window. So you are looking from inside, past the kitchen sink and window sill to the yard. You are also looking from inside the house to the outside wall and window of the bedroom.
When I took the picture in about 1992 and was trying to learn how to do Polaroid Manipulations, the house was roughly 82 years old.
This house is now 108 years old as of April 2018. Many of the windows still have the wavy glass from long ago. The home was eligible (still is) to be on the National Historic Register. I was the only one who felt that was a honor and that we should embrace that. I was outvoted. I hope the new owners will consider it. Each year, more and more of the old homes in Linn County (other places too, but that was where my home was) are deteriorating much faster than that one was. It was be a great representative of an early Linn County farm house. Oregon had only been a state for about 50 years and the American Civil War had only been over about 45 years when the house was built.
"W" is for Window as in Kitchen Window

Nearly the only thing still green in the garden, this clover still had morning dew on it, even after some very light snow flurries.. all the beads clustered on the leeward side, and reflecting winter skies. I converted the file in Photoshop from RGB color to LAB color, and used a curves layer to force the greens and blues further apart and intensify them, for this effect. (Image>Mode>Lab Color)
Image was shot with a vintage Polaroid SX-70 camera using Impossible Project PX70 V4B Test film. Waited about 4 hours and then did an emulsion lift onto watercolor paper

Another 'unexpected alliance' image. Zombies as good guys working alongside our heroine... who'd have thought it?
