Lunch at the Captain's is always a treat. An infrequent one, though. Deep fried clams, shrimp, scallops or lobster roll--it all tastes great, but there is no low fat fare on this menu.

Chris and Yann of the Bonneville Barons once again. They are shot against grey and composited into the scene. This particular background is actually a 3D model that was rendered in a program called Carrara 8. I set the rez quite high and then had to wait 7 hours for the finished result! That said, being able to create a summer scene in the depths of winter is quite handy :)
Strobist:
x1 Einstein640 boomed high just off centre right for main fill.
x1 AlienBees AB800 camera left and x1 AlienBees AB1600 camera right both shot through large softboxes to provide kicker light.

Another slighty surreal and theatrical image :)
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality. The background here was an old mansion near me that is open to the public.

Model: The lovely Mariel - I love her for that pose, her facial expression, her hair, for her silk dress and how she's showing her shoulder, the worn out jeans, her necklace... IMO, we catched the perfect moment!

Some promo work for Chris and Yann. These boys make up the Rockabilly Duo 'The Bonneville Barons' who have one foot firmly in the vintage era, with the costumes to match.
I shot the boys separately against a grey background and composited them into this 3D rendered scene incorporating various photoshop techniques to enhance contrast and the 'dodge and burn' look.

a small rose in a friend's yard.. these don't last long when cut, so photographing them is better, except for that heady scent that can be brought into the house.

I couldn’t help myself here...was just begging for some Saturday night fever glam. He kind of looks like an idiot.
This is a manipulated version of a shot that was taken minutes after this shot was taken. I was rushing to catch the sunrise, but could not resist taking a shot of these silhouetted cows (which couldnt be discerned later on on my monitor) near the tree. Looked great with the predawn blue. As karma would have it, it was cold, I was in a hurry and it was handheld resulting in a blurry picture. This is an attempt to "restore" the picture, and in the process learn some image manipulation :)

Moving on from the Verboten! image. Our heroine stalks around her Steampunk world.
The background is another plant room from yet another building shot recently.

Swansea Marina this morning. On seeing this beautiful sunrise, it was an easy decision to be slightly late for work so I could photograph it.
To spoil the romance of this shot just a bit: the orange sky was caused by the sunlight catching emissions from the chemical plants in Port Talbot, just across the bay!
Some more imagery for The Bonneville Barons. In my mind I was thinking 'barn dance' but this looks a bit spookier than I thought.
Ah well, it's only just gone halloween. Maybe I can still get away with it.
As ever. Yann shot against a neutral grey background and composited into this scene.

Thanks to DeviantArt for the background.
Once again, big thanks to Marcus Ranum
Another steampunk-esque image about... um... it's all about... know what? I have no idea what it's about. But lets face it, this one doesn't take itself too seriously.
I had some un-used Daz Studio renders and images from the previous pic and thought I'd hack another comp together.
This one almost ended up in my 'Hall of shame' but I worked on it a bit, redid some layers and threw a lot of filters at it. Now, I actually quite like it :)
OK this one's had the lot.

In my mind, the zombie is not attacking. There is a piece of mistletoe hanging just above her head out of shot and he is coming in for a big sloppy kiss! :)

A simple backdrop once again for this shot. Altered all the colours on Sarah-Janes costume to keep a fairly warm/copper kind of feel.

You have met this fellow before, but he thought you might also enjoy seeing his magnificent, vanGovian tail.
141/365. Getting to work keeping all my New Year's Resolutions:
Playing more music, shooting more films, taking (even) more photos and doing more work about the house.
Quite the handful!
