Same as the Icecubes, but I've processed these images with a smoke preset, resulting in a reversed color pallet.
Trying an upturned baking tray as a flat black surface for the first time.
I was hoping this would give a fairly flat black without reflections, which would be suitable for using with liquids and maybe flames too. The first part works well, the flames I hope to try later ;-)
For UK readers, the tray was from Sainsbury's economy range and was just £1.00 ($1.50 approx) so worth a try for that price. Must remember not to use this for cooking though :)
The tray is placed on a couple of blocks or foam rubber to raise it off my low level coffee table. Behind this is a sheet of black Fun Foam to act as a backdrop.
Lighting is provided by a pair of Neewer SF.01 mini slave flashes, sat on Blazzeo SLT-4 radio triggers and mini tripods. These are shot through DIY tracing paper screens, which are described fully here : www.flickr.com/groups/creative_tabletop_photography/discu...
The resulting image can be seen in the first comment below.
Shot at the café/restaurant Troppau, calle 5 de Mayo in the Centro Histórico of the city of Querétaro, Mexico.

Just trying this out...getting ready for the stars.
IceCube – ELaNa XVII
IceCube mission is to demonstrate the technology of a submillimeter-wave radiometer for future cloud ice sensing. This technology will enable cloud ice measurements to be taken in the intermediate altitudes (5km – 15km), where no measurements currently exist. It will perform first-of-a-kind measurements of ice particles embedded within clouds. These measurements will not only advance atmospheric monitoring technology, they will also fill in critical gaps in understanding of how cloud ice affects the weather and how cloud formations process atmospheric radiation. IceCube, the first small satellite project managed by Goddard Space Flight Center's Wallops Flight Facility, is a 3U cubesat weighing 10 pounds and about the size of a breadloaf, complete with three-axis attitude control, deployable solar areas and a deployable UHF communications antenna. Launched by NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative on the May 24, 2017 ELaNa XVII mission on the seventh Orbital-ATK Cygnus Commercial Resupply Services (OA-7) to the International Space Station and deployed on tbd. I don't post video but, for this I made an exception.
One of our new cats needed to take pills, which is an adventure best undertaken by professionals.
Anne decided to disslove the pill and use a syringe to easy the pain.
As a treat she put an ice cube out for Mr. Bean.
Maggie likes ice cubes but had a hard time coralling this slippery prey.
Worth a look if you have high speed.
DSC_6637_134-edit: Experimenting with macro photography using my zoom lens. I don't have a set of tubes or a macro lens, so this is the best kind of thing I can get.
Just to show I havent totally lost control, here is the subject from yesterdays shots :)
Even I'm not stupid enough to use a real lens for an underwater shot.
I'm sure many already guessed, but for those that didn't it's a promotional mug put out by Canon, that I picked up from ebay recently. With just a quick glance, it is very easy to mistake it for the real thing and probably the closest I will ever come to owning one, unless my lotto numbers come up :)
For those that may be interested, shot against a white fun foam backdrop.
A pair of Neewer SF-01 mini slave flashes placed either side and shot through tracing paper difussers.
Above and behind, a Yongnuo YN460 set to 1/4 power and bounced off a white card to kill the shadows.
All fired with Blazzeo radio triggers.
With hindsight, I wish I had placed a black straw in it, as the white and pink one got a bit burnt out by the flashes.
Too busy at the moment to have another go, so this will have to do :)

Another of John Carpenters horrors.
A headstrong female Police Lt working with the mining on Mars is dispatched with her team to apprehend a dangerous criminal (Ice Cube) who turns out to be the least of their worries when Martian spirits are released who kill and take over the Humans bodies.
Just another excuse for lots of blood letting.

I put an ice cube on my boyfriend's back and had him lay near a window. I thought the light coming from the window looked nice through the ice, and cast a nice shadow around it. I chose to put the ice on skin because I found that the goosebumps added an interesting texture and I like the idea of showing how an object affects its space.
Brian S. Abresch, an electronics engineer at Goddard Space Flight Center at Wallops Island, Virginia, and Con Duer work on the small satellite IceCube’s UHF antenna to measure its transmission power pattern at Wallops Flight Facility. Small satellites such as IceCube are playing a larger role in research and technology demonstrations at NASA. IceCube will study ice clouds and space test a commercial receiver for NASA’s proposed Aerosol-Cloud-Ecosystems (ACE) mission. nasa.gov/cubesats
