As I am rarely drinking alcohol, instead going for something healthy, this idea as close to my heart. So I bought a fresh orange and a can of iced coffee (which I drank), cut the can at the top and a hole in the orange where the can could fit in. I had some fresh juice which was filled in the orange to pour out for the photograph. So hardly any editing necessary.

Another half-way stage on a 365! Today's prompt is a "frozen treat", "quenching" and "revitalising" although the water is not frozen the ice cubes are and in this wonderful summer sun it is good to quench your thirst and revitalise yourself - well, I'm golfing later so I need to keep drinking cool clear water!!

OK, I know I'm a month early for Halloween, but it's just what I thought of when I saw the pic.
Was just messing around with edge lighting which is commonly used for glass, but not sure I have seen it done this way before. By using my DIY Difussion screens, I was able to light both the backdrop and the subject with 2 small flashes. By using these screens, I was able to mask the black background behind the glass, plus allow the light to fall on the subject.
As this was experimental, please excuse the uneven lighting, I had tracing paper in the left screen and white paper on the right, so they let through a different quality/intensity of light, but I dont think that really mattrs for this example.
Lighting was from a par of my trusty Neewer SF-01 mini slave flashes, mounted on radio triggers and mini tripods.

apparently, ice spikes are a rather rare occurrence. this one grew in the ice cube tray in a regular freezer, and looked very regular and smooth. it was a little bit slanted, but other than that looked like a regular one that could have formed the usual way, by dripping and freezing water.
Seems I always put on a few pounds during time on the Central Coast. Don't know why. I blame it on altitude. So I've been trying to figure out a diet that is nutritious and doesn't leave me hungry in a few hours. So I have come up with something my partner calls pond scum--a smoothie made with the ingredients found in my tags--lots of fruits and veggies from the garden and other stuff (including broccoli Justice Scalia) but no ice cream Cheryl. Mmm tasty and sweet. Just trying to stay in touch with my pals from the CC.. Seem to have lost photo energy as I bog down in LR4.

The bestest Cupcake silicon molds from paperchase, they are meant to be for icecubes, but I may have to see if I can make some chocolates to go in these!!

The key to killer iced coffee.
In a cup/glass that you can fit a lid with, place 2 teaspoons of instant coffee and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Add 4 tablespoons of water. Cover the cup/glass with the lid and shake it vigorously until it gets super frothy. SUPER frothy. The coffee and sugar will completely dissolve. Set the cup/glass aside for a minute while you fill a tall glass half full with ice cubes*. Grab the frothy coffee mixture, pour it over the ice cubes, then fill the rest of the glass with cold milk. Then drink it!
*You should use coffee ice cubes. For mine, I dissolved 2 teaspoons instant coffee into 2 cups of hot water, let it cool, then poured it into 2 ice cube trays. Feel free to make your coffee ice cubes stronger, if you like.
