"...in that dilated moment after sunset when the sky holds all the light..."

There was still a little bit of ice left on the lake. You can see some of it floating in this picture

Ice out occurred locally on April 12. It was dead calm in the morning but a gusty afternoon broke up much of the remaining ice. By the end of the day it was largely ice free upstream of Deep River but the pier was still iced in. The ice cleared at the pier two days later.

The ice is finally disappearing at Bear Lake, producing amazing colors as it melts into the lake. It looks like we won't be treated to a big break-up this year, but it is still spectacular when storm clouds blow over the mountains. This is the latest ice-out in recorded history at Bear Lake.

The last of the ice on West Pond was blown away on March 30th, I guess winter is officially over now.

Ice out has been slow in coming this spring due the prolonged cold weather we have been experiencing.

Today the ice on Long Pond was being pushed by the north west wind up against the eastern shore of the pond.

The smelt fisherman are going to be hard pressed tonight to find a place to dip there nets around the outlett.

Well, it's that time of the year when our little pond has "Ice Out" and today, March 16th the ice has all melted away in the entire pond.

Lately we have had quite a bit of rain and warmer temperatures but very cloudy and overcast sky's but I can't complain as the winter is behind us,.. hopefully.

Our weather is very unsettled lately with rain and strong winds, today we had mostly cloudy sky's and it was very windy.

The good side of the wind is that it has been moving the ice on the pond and helping to break it

up.

A spring day panorama view of west pond with the ice just gone out yesterday, it's nice to see open water again after the long, cold winter.

... and a little open water.

With a Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker having recently opened this harbor, most of the ice is out and I expect the ships still on winter layup will be on their way soon.

We had some high winds today which helped break up the ice that's left on the pond.

Some large sections of ice like this one pictured broke off the main body of ice and are floating around in the pond like icebergs.

Iceout at Tioga Lake a few weeks back. Can't wait to get back up here for my workshop next week! I just did a lap to review current conditions yesterday.

As of today, the 24th of April all of the ice has gone out of West Pond.

Yesterday there was some ice still visible along the dark side of the pond but last nights rain seems to have finished it off.

The ice on this glacial tarn was just starting to melt when I arrived to capture this iPhone panorama on May 15.
