We spent a lovely morning watching the ice go out today. Over the course of a few hours, the lake went from ice covered with a few breaks in it, to completely clear. Once the wind came up, it blew the whole ice sheet into our bay and in a couple of hours, it all broke up and was gone. Now I get to sit and listen to actual water lapping at the shore instead of looking at solid white ice. Let paddling season begin!

The ice on Smith Lake is receding quickly in the morning sun. The opening of fishing season was three days ago, and in a few more I'm sure there will be watercraft on this lake.
