Carioles were used for transporting a passenger in a dog train. The boss (bourgeois) of a fur company station might ride in one, such as this man.

About 20 minutes before this photo was taken, the ice had been tight to the shore, but a cold front had just arrived and strong north winds begin pushing the huge ice sheet to the south. It is amazing how fast it moved. You can see how far it moved in the one-minute video in this set. With the strong north winds predicted for the night, the ice will be completely gone by morning. Judging from what I saw yesterday driving around the area, all the other big lakes in this vincinity will also be free of ice tomorrow. Apr 23, 2009.

Following a hearing at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on August 14, 2018, immigrant rights leaders, activists, and prominent First Amendment lawyers held a press conference at Foley Square, to denounce the federal government’s attempts to deny immigrants access to federal courts and their first amendment protections.
