The Stormont II is a cable ferry and was built in 1980.
The ferry Stormont II at Country Harbour, has a capacity of 12 passenger vehicles. It measures 24.72 m (81.1 ft) in length and 9.45 m (31.0 ft) in breadth while having a draught of 1.52 m (5.0 ft). It has a gross tonnage of 84 GT and is powered by a 74 kW (99 hp) diesel engine which pulls the ferry on a fixed cable at a speed of 5 kn (9.3 km/h).

Digitial infrared image taken at the Cambridge American Cemetery at Madingley. The memorial garden commemorates the American servicemen who died in World War II. The image was processed in Lightroom and photoshop with colour swapping creating the
yellow hues to the vegetation.
The keeled skimmer, Orthetrum coerulescens, is a species of dragonfly belonging to the family Libellulidae.

This is part of a forthcomong series of images documenting Semana Santa (Easter) in Taxco and Cacalotenango, Mexico in April 2007.
This Easter I traveled to the colonial town of Taxco, Mexico to rest and document the Semana Santa customs originally brought from Spain almost 500 years ago â rituals once banned have been regularly practiced in Taxco once a year for the past 100 years or so. One can see, hear, and sense the processions as they wind through the ancient cobblestone streets. Children dressed as angels, followed by the faithful shouldering beautifully carved religious statuses. I witnessed âpenitentesâ who show their faith through self-inflicted suffering.
These re-enactments and processions are an amalgamation of Spanish and pre-Columbian worship and culture. For example, the use of percussion and musical instruments, and the specific qualities of âpenitenteâ practices. The indigenous identification with Christâs (Jews) suffering at the hands of the Romans mirrors their own history of suffering at the hands of the conquistadors. The flagellation practices are reminiscent of those found in Aztec culture. Their use of decorations, plants (zarzamora) and materials by the âpenitentesâ are clear adaptations to medieval Spanish customs and ritual.
Taxco is reported to be the âSilver Center of the Worldâ where four tons of silver a month are made into jewelry and other works of art. In the late 1920s, the charm of this colonial hillside town attracted William Spratling, a North American architect, writer and artist, and his charisma in turn made Taxco âthe haunt of Bohemian American artists and literati.â Since 9/11 theyâve been hit hard. These are a proud, hardworking people who are very devout in their spirituality and commitment to their families. This is the first of a series of images captured in Taxco as well as Cacalotenango.

Because Germany had lost all its school ships as war reparations after World War II, the German Bundesmarine decided in 1957 to have a new training vessel built following the plans for the original Gorch Fock of 1933 which by that time was owned by the Soviets, and renamed to Tovarishch. The new ship was a modernized rebuild of the Albert Leo Schlageter, a slightly modified sister ship of the previous Gorch Fock.
The 1933 Gorch Fock had already been designed to be a very safe ship: she had a righting moment large enough to bring her back into the upright position even when heeling over to nearly 90°. Nevertheless some late-minute changes to the design were made in response to the Pamir disaster in 1957, especially concerning the strength of the body and the bulkheads as well as the lifesaving equipment, including the lifeboats.
The new ship was built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg, launched on 23 August 1958, and commissioned on 17 December of that year. Her home port is Kiel. The Gorch Fock is a three-masted barque with a steel hull 81.2 m (266 ft) long (without the bowsprit) and 12 m (40 ft) wide. She has a draught of some 5.2 m (17 ft) and a displacement at full load of 1760 tons. Originally, she carried 1952 mÂČ of canvas sails; later, she received slightly larger sails made of synthetic materials. The tops of her fore and main masts can be lowered so that she can navigate the Kiel Canal, otherwise she would be too tall for some of the bridges spanning the canal.
Over the years, various modernizations have been applied to the ship. She was fitted with air conditioning, the asbestos used originally was removed and replaced by less dangerous materials in 1991, and in that year she also received a new auxiliary engine, a six cylinder diesel engine producing 1,220 kW (1660 hp), good for a top speed of 13.7 knots. The interior has also been modified multiple times; technological advances made it possible to reduce the size of the galley and enlarge the crew quarters.
Officially Gorch Fock is a Type 441 class naval ship with the NATO pennant number A60. Her international radio call sign is DRAX.
The Gorch Fock participates in sailing parades and Tall Ships' Races, where she is in amicable rivalry with the Italian vessel Amerigo Vespucci.

AprĂšs avoir roulĂ© plusieurs kilomĂštres et un porc-Ă©pic, je vois apparaĂźtre une belle femelle orignal au milieu de la riviĂšre au kilomĂštre 20 environ. Ă ce moment, Gilles Tardif et sa femme Lisette se joignent Ă moi pour prendre en photo cette superbe bĂȘte qui se nourrissait de vallisnĂ©rie d'AmĂ©rique. Cette belle rencontre a fait notre journĂ©e!

This small 'window' is set in the side of a pillbox near the Basingstoke Canal. It was part the 'GHQ line', a series of defensive structures intended to stop a German Invasion in WW II.The line ran from Somerset eastwards, and to the south of London.

The colossal granite statue of Pharaoh Ramesses II, known as the "Younger Memnon", currently located in the British Museum, London.
- The statue is a fragment, consisting of the head and upper torso, from one of a pair of colossal statues that originally flanked the entrance of the Ramesseum mortuary temple in Thebes, Upper Egypt.
- Carved from a single block of two-colored granite, the fragment weighs approximately 7.25 tonnes.
- The hole visible on the right shoulder is reportedly the result of an unsuccessful attempt to remove the statue by Napoleon's expedition in the late 18th century.
- Its arrival in England in 1818 is widely believed to have inspired Percy Bysshe Shelley's famous poem, "Ozymandias".
