What is on the other side of this wall?
Where is the end of the world?
Would it be wortwhile to walk to there?
What is on the other side of the rainbow bridge?
How could I manage to be reborn in this house??
Uuuuh, so many tough questions for my little brain ;-)
Happy Caturday 17.3. "Meditation"
Donald II, or rather Domnall mac Causantín (in Modern Gaelic: Dòmhnall mac Chòiseim), was a king of the Picts who reigned between 889 and 900. He was the son of Constantine I (Constantín mac Cináeda), and succeeded Giric and Eochaid following their expulsion or death. The Prophecy of Berchán, which is not a prophecy at all but a poem written in the 12th century or later, gives him the epithet Dásachtach, "the Madman".
The Chronicle of the Kings of Alba records that during his reign “The Northmen wasted Pictland…” and that “…a battle occurred between Danes and Scots at Innisibsolian where the Scots had victory”
According to the Chronicle, he was killed sometime in 900 by Vikings at Dunnottar in Aberdeenshire. It has been suggested that this event was part of King Harald Fairhair of Norway’s ravaging of Scotland as described in the Heimskringla. There is some disagreement about the nature of his death, with the Prophecy of Berchán attributing it to Gaels, not Vikings, and other sources reporting that he died at Forres.
Donald was succeeded by his cousin Constantine II, while his son Malcom, would become king in 943.

Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park
To me, Mesa Verde was the true center piece of a feast, the jewel of the invaluable necklace that was the pre-colonial heritage of this land. The views at dusk added to its deep charm, and the beauty of solitude was probably the most pleasant surprise.

This is a more sophisticated version of an old idea which consists of over 80 single shots. To achieve the dry ground I made some shots without water. A little post-production was needed to get this final result.
Strobist information: see this setup-shot for the overall setup. Fired two SB-20's (1/16 power) throug white umbrella from right, one 430EX (1/8 power) against background.
One of my most beloved viaducts of the Baeza-Utiel ghost line, with 160 meters long in curve and its arches at two heights, 9 eyes above and 3 below. 1932, the year of construction, proudly sculpted on its pillars. When the rails were pulled from the track in the 90's, the concrete sleepers were threw overboard, and with them several decades of agony of a train that would never pass through there.

This view is from the "Buy Miles" private railcar excursion. This particular journey originated in Albany-Rensselaer, NY earlier in the day and terminated at Philadelphia's 30th St. Station after traversing the River Line, Lehigh Line, Trenton Line and other connecting Conrail routes.

'Flippie' is the big black and white cat from a few houses away from where I live now. I have a bond with it that is actually kind of telepathic. When I think of him and ask him if he would like to come and visit me some more, it takes a few days and there he is ! It started a few years ago. He came up to my kitchendoor and then when I opened it, and after a rather short greeting on his part, he walked straight in; found my livingroom and placed himself on my couch, slept for a few hours and than left again. This repeated itself. Sometimes with weeks or months of no visits. Yet he knows me and greets me when I see him walking through the neigborhood. One day I walked through our street and saw him sitting inside his real home, in the windowsill behind the glass. I greeted him and said some words that he might not even have heard. Then the same day or the next: there he was again. Standing on the flood defense of my kitchen window, looking through the glass wanting to be invited in..I hadn't received a visit from him in months !
I baited this honeybee to get her to slow down and let me get close. Shot at almost 3x with a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens.
