This morning there were many deer throughout the State Park. This one waited a moment for me to take a picture before bounding off.

This annual family-oriented event serves as an introduction for young people and newcomers to outdoor sports while teaching the important role hunting and fishing play in wildlife conservation.
The hunting was never as easy as these two made it for me. I didn't even have to leave camp. Usually it seems like I have to march six miles just to get one. :-)
Public hunting is available in designated Wildlife Areas in the Dane County Park System. Dogs can be off-leash and do not require a dog permit in Dane County Wildlife Areas ONLY if they are actively being used for hunting during a designated Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Department (WDNR) hunting season. If not being used for hunting, dogs must have a valid dog permit and be leashed with a 6-foot static leash at all times. Photo credit Chris Bridson.
