Fox hunting was developed in the late 18th century in Britain. Earlier forms of foxhunting mainly involved following the fox's trail back to its den opposed to men on horseback following with groups of hounds chasing the fox. Foxhunting is now illegal in Britain since about 2005 and in Scotland since about 2002. There are some people in Great Britain who wish for fox hunting to be re-introduced. Not only as a sport but as a necessity due to the growth in the fox population to the extent that they are now considered pests. Especially urban foxes.
