Here is my labeling system for the sandwiches (cucumber for the egg salad version, aspic on top of the mousse variation).

Used a garlic shrimp recipe (with bay scallops) and placed on top of slow baked egg with a spinach cream sauce beneath it.

This turned out a lot more like sausage than pepperoni, but I think it will be pretty yummy on pizza. I didn't have mustard seeds, instead I just used ground mustard.

You can find the link for the recipe I used on my blog~

Homemade Aquatint Box

By Russ Morris

1. Find a cardboard box that will accommodate the size of the plates you're planning to use. It's better to use a box that's at least twice as big as the plate is you're using.

2. Seal it up with packing tape. It's a good idea to seal all around the box to better contain the rosin.

3. Make a trap door on the side of the box. Cut three sides (left, top, right ) of a rectangle into the side with the most surface. Score the bottom and fold it inwards, then out towards you. This opening will need to be large enough to put your plate through.

4. Make a simple handle. Poke a small hole near the top of the trap door. Loop a piece of string and pull it through the small hole from outside to in - tie a knot inside. Tape it down.

5. Make a support for your plate. Find a piece of corrugated board that's the same width as the box, but two or three times the length. Fold it zig-zag along the width, making the folds a little bit taller than the space between the bottom of the trap door and the bottom of the box. Place it in the bottom of the box.

6. Put a bunch of rosin in the box. Close the trap door.

7. Shake the box. Put it on a table and open the trap door.

8. Place your plate in the box and close the trap door. Leave it alone until the little dust storm subsides. Carefully remove your plate by reaching in the box and easing your fingers under the zig-zag support and pulling your plate towards the trap door opening. *Remove the plate while being careful not to touch the top!

9. Is the dusting not thick enough? Repeat steps 7 & 8 until it is.

*NOTE: You might want to make an equivalent to the zig-zag support for outside of the box to rest the plate on.

Here's the rough guide: cook the bacon in the brownie pans in the oven and use some of the grease to coat the pans; put the rest of the grease in the brownie batter (to taste); make the brownie batter any way you like - i used a recipe from AllRecipes - allrecipes.com//Recipe/Quick-and-Easy-Brownies/Detail.aspx ; layer the bacon-grased pan with brownie batter, then a layer of bacon, then top with remaining batter; cook extra bacon and grind in food processor to make homemade bacon bits; sprinkle bits on top 5-10 minutes before brownies are done; enjoy.

Hat tip Mike Fisher for the recipe.

It’s Wednesday. That means it’s homemade pizza day!

I never make Indonesian food because it's so time consuming and because I am not a kitchen goddess. But this time I just had to make these rice balls stuffed with palm sugar and covered with grated coconut.

One of my favorite holiday baking treats is homemade marshmallows. Believe it or not they are very easy. I use a recipe from the Martha Stewart website. If you haven't tried them you should. I was also trying out some rounded corners in photoshop and I used Pioneer Woman's define and sharpen action. This picture was taken with my new 100mm macro lens. It's got great depth of field with the 2.8 aperture. I had the camera on a tripod using natural light in my livingroom on our early 1960's black vinyl sofa as the background. Fun on a Sat. am nursing a sinus infection. ;)

I finished this embroidery piece after doing it in bits and pieces for months. Its good practise for my stitching skills and also for neatness. Anyway the theme of this one is Homemade Handmade.

Anyway its felt and embroidery on a linen cotton mix and its 'signed'.

(By the way I'm not putting this up on etsy, so if anyone is interested my purchasing send me an email.)

homemade light for wet plate. Used an old pan/tilt head and a crappy old tripod. Not very pretty but works great! The reflector is a frosted silver mat mounted onto black foamcore.

Two 105w cfl full spectrum lights at 5000k each put out the equivalent to an 800watt light. I will be making a bank of four 105cfl later when i get more bulbs and will use this one for a fill light. Should reduce exposures down to 3-5 seconds.
