My homemade wired remote I made for my Rebel XTi. It's made entirely out of parts from Radio Shack and is MUCH cheaper than Canon's wired remote.
Project box $2.29
Switch $2.99
2x button = $4.58
Cable $5.49
Not shown: Right-Angle 3/32" Stereo Headset Plug, cat no. 274-298, $2.79
Wire + Solder = negligible cost.
Total = $18.14 if you have all the necessary tools (drill with 1/2" and 3/4" bits, soldering iron, screwdriver, needle-nose pliers may be needed for wire manipulation)
In contrast: Canon Remote Switch RS-60E3 = $30.00
My buddy Donna talked me into going to a gathering tomorrow for Christmas, so I made an apple pie to contribute to the food.. mMmm
Recently, a Black Bear has been spotted as close as two houses down from our place on Little John Trail. It was actually out in front of someone’s home. I missed seeing it even though I ran for a camera the second the notice got to us.
Yesterday Donna saw this small sign nextdoor to our house in the now wooded flood control project. I had to take a shot. The sign is no more than ten to twelve inches in height and is nailed to a small tree. The background green has even less contrast than the actual sign and it is very difficult to make out.
After watching the sparrows steal more than their share of my tabasco
peppers, I decided it was harvest time.
This is a 12 oz. olive oil bottle that came from the local Target,
stuffed with red, ripe tabascos with a little salt, a little dill and
a touch of rosemary. Once the bottle was filled, I boiled 3/4ths of a
cup of white vinegar and 1/4th cup of apple cider vinegar and poured
it in. This picture was made while the brew cooled on the countertop,
hence the little droplets of condensation on the inside of the neck.
It already smells pungent, but I'll let it steep for a couple of weeks
in the fridge for it to reach full strength and try it with a big pot
of mustard greens.
My mom makes this really delicious Chicken noodle soup with lots of garlic, carrots, celery, chicken and asian style noodles topped with green onions. Yumyum.

Finally, our own homemade Kombucha so we don't have to pay $4 a glass at Whole Foods! The darker bottle has been flavored with pomegranate while the back two are being flavored with fresh ginger and some honey.
Special thanks to our friends Bronson and Celia from the garden who gave us the mother that you see floating in the large mason jar. We're on our own now.

I made these this afternoon as a tasty treat for my husband and the in-laws! I guess you could also call them mini empanadas.
Filling:
1. Sautee onion and garlic in some olive oil until softened
2. Add in one can of sardines including its tomato sauce.
3. Use ladel to smash up the fish into small bits.
4. Add salt, pepper and a teaspoon of sugar.
5. Allow to simmer until thick consistency.
6. Let cool.
Pastry:
1. I used Pillsbury pie crust and an empanada mold. Easy and quick!
2. After filling and closing the puff, brush on some egg wash.
Baking:
1. Pre-heat oven at 350F
2. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
3. Cool and serve!
All portions are entirely up to you. I usually use a small can of Iberia sardines in hot tomato sauce though.

Craisins and melted chocolate add interest to these high-fibre, chewy no-bake bars made with rolled oats, All-Bran and wheat germ. Almost 100% fat free thanks to a marshmallow fluff and low-fat condensed milk binder, they're a better for you version of the popular cereal bar!
