marinated in lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper, ginger, honey and chilli flakes. Roasted with whole cloves of garlic for 30 minutes.
My attempt to make one of my favorite dishes. Used to have it a lot back home in Malaysia; don't know if it's a Malaysian or Chinese thing. The recipe is from here.
Verdict: Pretty good. But next time, will try to sear the noodles a bit more for an extra sticky texture, and perhaps add more broth for a more watery gravy.

I made a fresh couscous salad with pickled radishes and Greek feta - yum! foodforfel.com/2010/02/couscous-salad-with-pickled-radish...

Playing with raw couscous and the manual focus on my new camera!
I had wanted to make an asparagus risotto but then I found these white asparagus in the supermarket and it seemed a pity if the asparagus got lost in the rice. So I decided to make this light salad instead.
Recipe
1. Gently peel the ends of the asparagus (1 packet) to rem
ove the tougher fibres. Cut into shorter bite-sized pieces. Boil the asparagus for about 10 minutes or so, till tender.
2. Combine: baby romaine lettuce (2 small heads), one packet of cherry honey tomatoes (halved), 2 shallots (diced) and coriander (one handful).
3. Make the dressing: I used 1 tsp wholegrain mustard, 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, 1 tbsp honey, salt and pepper to taste.
4. When the asparagus has cooled, place in with the leaves and dressing and toss.
I've recently put both my girls on a homecooked diet as I was getting worried about Jess (she will go days refusing to eat dog food and after changing brands so many times with her still not eating them and still having to sit on the floor feeding her with my hands just to encourage her to eat something had got just too much!)
Three weeks in and dinner time has completely changed! I actually can't believe I didn't do it sooner! Jess now sits in the beg position just whilst I'm preparing it (that's without me asking her) and whines as she's so excited - definitely no more problems with her eating anymore :-)
For dinner tonight I cooked up some (boneless, skinlees, breast) chicken, onions, garlic, green peppers, red peppers, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, black pepper, and a lot of hot Hungarian paprika. I served it with long grain white rice.
(Barbara - I think Dan would like this.)
For the last 3 weekends I've been making crêpes for breakfast. We've been trying them with different fillings, both sweet and savory. Sweet: lemon & sugar, peanut butter & jelly, apples & raisins. Savory: sausage, mushrooms, onions and cheese.
Saffron Rice, skinless and boneless chicken thighs and breast (cubed), red peppers, Hungarian paprika (hot), salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic and cilantro.

My 3rd try - finally not overbaking them.

- braised chiken and lotus root
- pumpkin and dried whitebait salad
- sweetened red kidney beans
- welsh onion saute with dried bonito flakes
- tofu and kelp flakes miso soup
thought it was 'interesting' but my daughter loved it ,,,will try again and it change is somewhat to improve texture
A bit too mushy for me. And I would use only half the amount of onions in the recipe. However, the taste of thyme and Worcestershire sauce makes it tasty.

March in LA. Time to open the grill again. All grill dinner: sockeye salmon, asparagus, garnet yams. A little teriyaki on the salmon, shaved Parmesan on the asparagus, and some butter for the yam. Simple and good.
Heuer left me at home with the simple request to cook the birds and not kill him in the process.
I am happy to say, while I started off not knowing WTF I was going to do, I pulled it together and put together a damn tasty meal.
Documenting this feat as it rarely happens.
