I often go wandering through the local markets looking for inspiration on what to cook. Making my way through the aisles, I picked up a few items and as I was formulating a recipe in my head, I came across a great deal on steaks. I mean a GREAT DEAL!
This 16oz Rib Steak was less than CDN$7.00! I couldn't resist! I grabbed one and then backtracked to return some of the other items to the shelves.
I seasoned it with some garlic and steak spice before cooking it on my indoor grill. It turned out deliciously great! Yummy! I should have bought a few more...

On my last trip to the grocery store, I saw Pork and Gai Lan (Chinese Broccoli) on sale and it immediately clicked to make this dish.
The pork was sold shredded, making it so simple to do a quick stir-fry. The gai lan was blanched and then stir-fried with garlic. I topped it with some crispy onion flakes and sesame seeds. It turned out great!

If you've been following my food adventures for a while, you'll know that I love wings! Chicken wings, all kinds, whether saucy or dry, although I'm leaning towards dry rubs. My favourite cooking method is the air fryer, for crispy, far less greasy results, with no oil, and less cleanup!
This batch was seasoned with garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. I dusted them with some corn starch before cooking in the air fryer for 20 minutes, turning them once at 12 minutes. They turned out perfectly crispy and delicious!
A freshly squeezed lemon would have taken the wings to another level. Some hot buttered corn and mashed potatoes completed this meal!
What is your favourite type of wings?

I was in the mood for something warm and hearty and had a craving for Jamaican Pumpkin Soup. This version was made with fresh pumpkin, chicken, pigtails, carrots, potatoes, and corn. It turned out really good!

Sometimes the best meals are a melding of what's available on hand. This meal was a good example of that.
I made some Chinese style roasted chicken, using an old family recipe. It paired well with Chinese sausages and Korean kimchi. I also had some leftover Korean pork bone soup. Everything tasted great!

I've stated before that Curry Goat is one of my favourite Jamaican dishes. I'm always happy to find goat on sale so I can cook it myself. Of course, I made sure I cooked enough for dinner, lunch the next day, and maybe even the next day's lunch and dinner!

David, scooping chilled white chocolate ganache to make truffles.
I took David, Radicaldreamer, and Tigerboy to a teen chocolate class at Viking Homechef, in Walnut Creek. They made two kinds of truffles (white chocolate rolled in oreo crumbs, and dark chocolate rolled in cocoa powder), chocolate hot lava cakes with praline sauce, and double chocolate dipped strawberries.
It was a blast!
The last time I bought this shredded pork, it turned out great. The seasonings saturated the meat easily and it cooked really quickly in a stir-fry.
I made a Pork and Black Beans stir-fry, with broccoli, asparagus, carrots, and mushrooms. I topped it with some crispy fried onions. Simple and delicious!

Are you familiar with Peruvian food? I'm no expert and it's been a while since I've had it but when thinking about what to cook for dinner, one dish randomly popped into my head - Lomo Saltado.
It's a popular traditional Peruvian dish that combines strips of beef with onions, tomatoes, and fries, served with rice. Yes, fries and rice in the same dish. Don't knock it!
This was my first time cooking this dish but I was very happy with the results. It tasted great and actually looked pretty good, especially with the bright yellow heirloom tomatoes!

Yeah... I'm realizing that I really enjoy cooking but damn do I hate cleaning up lol. After I did finish cleaning up though, I went ahead and watched Jon Favreau's Chef again. If you love making food, just watch it. It's amazing. #bulgogi #homechef via Instagram instagr.am/p/CTO93IqHLRb/
