I often don't have a plan for cooking a meal. I usually just wander through my local supermarkets, browsing the items on sale, and looking for inspiration.
This time, I found some shredded pork, and asparagus, both on sale. I threw in some Asian seasonings and did a quick stir-fry, topping it with some kimchi that I already had. It turned out delicious! I'll have to do this again.

I made a homemade coconut cream pie filling and added it to my custard base. When it was all done I broke up a pie crust I had baked and frozen and added it after the ice cream was done churning. I served the ice cream over a meringue rosette that I bruleed.
I made a butter pound cake that stuck to the pan. I decided to make a brown butter glaze and made cake balls instead.
Cake Balls for the WIN !!!
Sunny Side Up Eggs and Pork Steak on this cold Ohio morning. It's -4 degrees outside now so I need a good breakfast. Shot in my sunroom with natural light.
I made homemade baklava a few weeks back and froze some. I decided to make an ice cream and combine the two. I made a brown butter ice cream and added chunks of baklava to it.
As 2022 came to a close, I had one more meal to cook, and I wanted it to be something special. I saw this great looking Nagano Pork Chop at Farm Boy. It was the last one in stock. It looked like a Tomahawk steak. Bingo!
Nagano Pork is 100% Canadian, from Quebec. It is butchered to Japanese specifications, resulting in an exceptional eating experience.
The seasonings were simple - garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper, olive oil. I seared it on an indoor grill and finished it in a toaster oven. The result was outstanding! It was thick, moist, and extremely tender. This was the best pork chop I have ever cooked! No exaggeration!
Asparagus, Haricot Vert, Heirloom Carrots, and Mini Potatoes completed this delicious meal. It was certainly fitting for my last meal of 2022. Happy New Year!

I had leftover bbq pulled pork and cheesy polenta I turned into a Pork Ragu and a Fried Polenta Tower. Leftovers can be High End if you try.
I bought a watermelon radish because I had never tasted one before. I made a salad with them sliced very thin, navel orange, feta cheese, cilantro, olive oil and salted roasted pecans.
I recently picked up an Armadillo Egg on my most recent visit to Halenda's, a local meat store.. If you're unfamiliar with this, as I was, it's not actually an egg. It's a jalapeno pepper, stuffed with cream cheese, and wrapped in sausage meat and bacon. How does that sound?
The photo might be deceiving because this one weighed just over a pound. It was big! I cooked it in my air fryer at 400F for 18 minutes and made a simple gravy. It was delicious!
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture once I sliced it open. Next time...

Mac and Cheese reshoot in natural light. I made Smoked Cheddar/Swiss Mac & Cheese with Bacon and Homemade Bread Crumbs.
Between shifts today I decided to make a Spicy Egg Curry. Yesterday I made a Homemade Turmeric and Garlic Paneer.
I made some delicious cinnamon pancakes for our house guests last breakfast. I tried my hand at some dark photography and decided to strip the color out of this one. I am sure this is a big no no to the "ones in the know of food photography", but I don't really ever follow what other people think is the best way.
Bonus points to anyone that can say what the syrup decanter is lol.
This is my second attempt at homemade pizza. Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Three Cheeses Swiss, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Roasted Garlic White Sauce all leftovers from yesterday's meal.
Cantonese style Chow Mein with Chicken
The noodles were cooked in an air fryer and came out perfect, crispy around the edges and soft in the middle.

There are very few occasions better than dining with friends, especially friends I've known for decades. We went on a road trip to Montreal many, many years ago and it solidified our bond that will never be broken. Even though life happens, we always make it a point to get together over a meal at least once a year.
Our original group of eleven has grown over the years, through marriage, kids, and even grandkids! Interestingly, our group's offspring includes three sets of twins! What are the odds?
Our potluck dinner included curry goat, jerk pork, chili chicken, pepperpot, chow mein, vermicelli, and much more. The highlight of our desserts was a beautiful and delicious Bundt cake by Caroline (shown here).

This is one of my favorite Indian meals to cook and to eat. I don't think I ever had tandoori chicken while in India. I tried recreating a photo I took a few years back when I first started photography to see if I could improve the photo.
I was up at 5:45 am and my mind was trying to decide what to bake. I decided to try making my first galette. I mixed cherries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and pecans. I made a mixture of cream cheese, cinnamon, almond extract to spread under the fruit. I cut out the stars in the edge of the dough, hoping to see them in the finished product some but that didn't happen. I attached the stars on the outside to give it a more finished look. I hope it tastes great later when it gets cut.
I made some Chinese style BBQ Pork Ribs, using the ingredients I had on hand. The ribs were boiled and then finished in the toaster oven with a honey/hoisin glaze. They turned out delicious and very tender.

These coconut cupcakes are Ina Garten's recipe. They are beyond delicious. I made these in the first baking contest I entered and won first place.
It's been a while since I've cooked Pork with Muknee and HamChoy. It's a traditional Hakka Chinese dish that I grew up with in Jamaica. If you're unfamiliar with this dish, it's definitely savoury, from the hamchoy (preserved mustard greens), soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Yummy!
Are you familiar with this dish? Do you cook it?

The last time I was at Costco, they had some (dry) Tonkotsu Ramen on sale so I picked up a pack of six. I don't remember how much it cost but it was cheap! It was also very simple to prepare and tasted pretty good - just add water and microwave for five minutes.
This time, however, I added some crab balls, shiitake mushrooms and some greens. Now that really elevated this simple dish!
