I took David, Radicaldreamer, and Tigerboy to a teen chocolate class at Viking Homechef, in Walnut Creek. They made two kinds of truffles (white chocolate rolled in oreo crumbs, and dark chocolate rolled in cocoa powder), chocolate hot lava cakes with praline sauce, and double chocolate dipped strawberries.

 

It was a blast!

The kids had a 'quiz' after everything was made, before the cakes came out of the oven. There was a lot of joking around and silliness. I'm afraid none of them did very well on the quiz - but they all had fun.

First time using my new indoor electric grill that I got for Christmas. It actually did a good job, putting a nice sear on these pork cutlets.

 

The pork was seasoned with some Montreal Steak Spice and basted with some BBQ sauce to finish. I also did some smashed potatoes on the grill and had some corn with it. Good meal!

 

The grill is made by Starfrit and it has The Rock non-stick coating on it that really works! Thank you, Santa!

These two girls, Allyson and Simone, were simply fantastic. They were 16 and 15 and really engaged the other kids by asking about their interests, and chatting them up. They were warm, funny, smart, personable and I think they'll go far in life.

Dal Pakwan is a sindhi staple, that is usually eaten for breakfast! A heavy and fulfilling meal in itself, the pakwan refers to a crisp flatbread made of maida while dal is a pale yellow, comforting concoction made from chana dal.

It is a good balance of healthy protein and indulgent carb – aka- the perfect weekend breakfast fix!

This is the second cut of beef I've had from Whispering Meadows and I was impressed with the premium quality of their meat. It was nicely trimmed, vacuum-packaged, and delivered to my front door!

 

Whispering Meadows Family Farms is based in Milverton, Ontario and offers many great choices of meats, including pork, lamb, goat, chicken, and more, all available for delivery! All their animals are free-range, raised stress-free, with zero antibiotics or synthetic hormones.

This is Pepperpot, Guyana's National Dish. It's a rich stew, usually made with bony cuts of meat, and Cassareep, derived from cassava. Other key ingredients include cinnamon and cloves, giving this dish a unique flavour that's hard to describe. It's mostly savoury, with a hint of sweetness and spicy heat. It's delicious!
