A special commission from the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art. An amazing paper cut framed in a hexagonal frame and held between two pieces of glass to create a shadow on the wall its hung against. Very happy with how this one turned out.
A little look at the hexagons I have sewn together so far. I'm calling this my 5 year project because I know it will take me forever at my current pace.
I may have finished these last month because I thought the deadline was early May! I was going to make a couple of the purple-and-turquoise ones for me, but I got kind of burnt out on crochet.
It's coming along quite nicely, I think. I think this is the best representation of the colors so far...I'm in love

A visit to the Schuylkill Mall, 11/8/14
On these shapes, benches that would follow the same hexagonal pattern used to stand here. They're long gone, just like the days when this mall was full of life.
*This is my very first attempt at documenting a shopping mall. Armed only with a 4th generation iPod Touch, the quality didn't turn out as well as I expected and the general framing and composition of the shots suffered in some areas. I hope to both get better equipment and sensibilities to continue doing this.*
Finn deboxed. He is free standing, just the way he was straight out of the box, without any accessories. He is wearing his jacket (that originally belonged to Poe), knit shirt, pants and shoes.
I just received the Hot Toys Finn 1/6th scale figure from Sideshow Collectibles. The list price is $205, but he was $30 off with free shipping, so I saved about $45. He is 12 inches tall, and is highly articulated. He is an excellent likeness of John Boyega as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
His LED lightsaber hilt is permanently attached the hand of a special right arm, that replaces the normal right arm and hand. The blade of the non-light-up lightsaber is removed and placed in this LED hilt. I couldn't fit the arm without taking off his jacket, so I pose him that way with his light up lightsaber.
I pose him alone and with Hot Toys Rey and BB-8.

Folded from a hexagonal piece of paper.
The circles in this model are actually octadecagons, that is, polygons with 18 sides.
If the side length of the hexagon we start with is 1,
then the side length of the completed model is 1-sin(20°)/tan(80°)≈0.879,
and so the efficiency of this tessellation is as high as (1-sin(20°)/tan(80°))²≈0.773.
The configuration of octadecagons is the same as that of Eric Gjerde's Spread Hexagons.
I just origaminized this dissection puzzle. The 6 puzzle pieces are folded from five A4 copy papers. No diagrams yet.
The 6 puzzle pieces can be arranged to form into a Hexagon shape. One of the solution is shown in the next photo. More solutions can be found at this Italian site - www.giocomania.org/pagine/18128/pagina.asp
