Hexagon is a stand alone follow up to the book Squidologi from earlier this year. Thomas Falla Eriksen has made a wordless creative fantasy in time and space. He gets his visual inspiration from classical European artists like Moebius and Casa, but is also inspired by music and movies from the eighties. As in Squidologi the story is a playful take on conspiracy theories, theology, quantum physics and sci fi literature. This time he specially uses mythology and symbols linked to the planet Saturn.

Shoot at Hong Kong Geopark. These columns were formed 140M years ago from lava. They became hexagonal when cooled down over time.

A hexagonal brass ring, size 9 1/4, with an antiqued finish. The ring was made by grinding out a bright brass plumbing fitting to size. The finish was achieved by tumbling with small steel objects, abrasive grit, and kosher salt.

The ring is light, at less than a half ounce, and measures just under an inch across the facets and just over a half inch in width.

Someone asked me how I'm doing the fussy cutting for my hex blanket, and while I'm not planning every single piece, I did come up with a good solution (for me) for doing it - I centered a paper piece on a 2.5" square ruler and used painters tape to mark it off. I was using a piece of cardboard with the center cut out, but this version is a lot easier to use in addition to being oh so much classier!

This was a great swap project - loved knitting with the cotton. Hope my partner loves it!

I already have another one on the needles for Julianna's teacher as an end of the year gift.

Hexagonal bench designed and built by me! Took way longer than I thought it would but isn't that always the case at Burning Man? And it's a bit wavy - turns out that wood doesn't stay flat on the playa. Oh well, it made it more fun to sit on!

The bench was in front of my camp, the Euroburners Quixote's Cabaret, part of Avalon Village. This year we built a proper British pub, The Green Man.

I have been adoring all of your lovely hexagons, and finally decided to make my own!! I just grabbed scraps from my pile, and put them together. I of course machine pieced all of it, cause I don't do hand sewing!! I also machine quilted around the edges....next time though I'll take the time to do a nicer job. It was late last night, and I just really wanted to get one done! I used my new AccuQuilt Go cutting system, and it's FABULOUS! I highly recommend it, so easy no tracing! I finished the whole thing in about an hour!

just to see if I like to make the flower so don't pay attention to the stripes not lining up or the stichtes you can see :-)

I do like it but I don't know if I will ever make a quilt out of hexies :-)
