Numbering my hexagons so that I can remember how I want them to be sewn for the finished quilt.

hexagon blanket made using the tutorial made by sweet Lucy
214 hexagons that made a 160 x 110 cm blanket :)
The floor in St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy is composed of ornate patterns of marble tiles - some of which date back to the 12th Century.

The color in this photo does not do the product justice. It is one of my favorite quilts. The picture of the ironing on the back is a more accurate color representation.
This is one of the other hexagon projects I work on. These hexagons are even smaller, just 1/4". I would be glad if you sent me a comment if you sew small hexagons like this. How many have you done? In my work it is more than 2000 hexies now.
I became a little obsessed with the Hexagon Pincushion pattern this weekend. For the first I used DK weight yarn and the results are more small pillow size than pincushion. For the second I used Perle Cotton embroidery floss. It's much more pincushion sized.
After cutting hexagons from rectangles some equilateral triangles are left. What can I fold with them ???
Mmmmh, maybe a star like this one !!!

First of all, yes, I'm staying in the Flickr Community. Now to the real description :)
A few days ago, L D M uploaded instructions to his wonderful hexagon that he used for his Settlers of Catan board. So, I went ahead and made a LDD version for those who wish to plan out the board or use this for a different creation before putting it together. Now, here's a few things to note:
~The hexagon is currently colored metallic gold in LDD Extended.
~The four outer headlight bricks should be substituted for 1x1x1 bricks with a hole for a technic pin- LDD considered it illegal if I placed them there :P
FM me if you want a copy of the file. Have fun with it!
Note: The original hexagon design was made by L D M, not me. Please give him all the credit for the brilliant build. I merely made it in LDD and edited the pic
From a hexagon of copy paper.
A hexagonal hybrid of Slavko star by Natalia Guzowska and these stars inspired by Jorge Jaramillo.
Proof of concept. I prefer the octagonal one.
Based on this new molecule (rhombus twist on top of an elongated hexagon), resembling an hexagonal cut used in jewelry.
This is the first version, with 64 division grid, wuth EH cream paper.
I´m preparing an extended / compact version with 80 division grid.
Design:
Lid: Jim Cowling, Helen Sperber
Box: fjc
Diagrams: Available for lid only.
Made with 2 dollar bills.
I have been working on this one for a while, I am happy with with final result. Box holds together. Great gift for Latin americans. I used the lid from hexagonal box designed by Jim Cowling and Helen Sperber, thanks to both.

hexagon flowers on Wonderland by MoMo fabric. blogged here: wendymoondesigns.blogspot.com/2009/05/whats-keeping-me-bu...
This was my first time using solids as the main fabric in a project. I might be obsessed with solids now. I used my walking foot to echo the shapes of the hexagons (quilted 1/4 inside each hexie) and then straight line squares in the blue borders. Love this.

An old (2005) model of mine, which I still like.

I made this bag for a fundraising raffle (in support of a local nonprofit). The weather has been super cold and crappy lately, and I ran out of time to fuss over the pictures as I usually do. I didn't bother with my tripod, just used a high ISO and said 'good enough!'.
The dark grey fabric is wool or a wool blend. The plaids are from cotton shirts that I cut up. All of these fabrics are from thrift stores.
I hand pieced the hexagons using the English paper piecing method. Each side measures 1 inch. After I removed the paper, I machine quilted the hexagon panel onto a scrap of muslin. Then I trimmed it square and pieced the wool around it
I'm very proud of how it turned out! The plaids mesh really well and pop quite nicely against the grey.
A simple design, just compound of 6 triangle twists, in the same fashion as the Rhombus Mosaics previously uploaded.
