Please read the very good answers from our contacts. It looks like a hexagon but could also be an octagon in shape looking in "Plan" view. 3 faces in front, 2 in the sides and 2 in the back. I think all are possible answers and deserve a prize for correctness in principle. The only way to find out is to fly my quadcopter and give an aerial shot. Maybe one of these days. But I strongly suspect it is octagonal in shape.
Here is the study of the different stacked hexagonal twists.
It is similar to the study with stacked triangle twists and the study with stacked square twists.
And again it has similar results.
If I increase the size of the first triangle twist then the size of the second triangle twist decrease.
This is not always visible, sometimes the first twist is "overfolded" by the second twist.
You can better check the crease pattern to see the sequence.
With the use of my naming concept here I have the following stacked hexagonal twists:
left to right:
A: (1,-2)hex+(1,4)hex
B: (1,-1)hex+(1,3)hex
C: (1,-0)hex+(1,2)hex
D: (1,0)hex+(1,1)hex
E: (1,1)hex+(1,0)hex
F: (1,2)hex+(1,-0)hex
G: (1,3)hex+(1,-1)hex
H: (1,4)hex+(1,-2)hex
The twists with a "-" are twists on the back side.
Also check the other side.

Avec ma technique pour obtenir de petits triangles, je peux me permettre de refaire mes modèles précédents à triangles. Ce motif-ci est presque plus intéressant que l'original car plus complet pour une taille de grille similaire.
I can allow myself to remake my previous models with triangles using my technique to get smaller triangles. This pattern is more interesting than the original since it's more complete for a similar grid size.

In between other things I'm making more hexagons. I have no system for the colour-combinations - other than not to have too much of the same colour at the same place.
Handstitched hexagons using some of my most precious low volume scraps. Handquilted and ready for snuggling. Just looking at this makes me happy!
Nasty, cold, wet night .... perfect for taking shots ... grabbed the tripod for some long exposures .... looked over the camera collection .... Hmmmmmmm ..... Minolta XE-7 is built like a tank .... good choice .... slapped on the MC W Rokkor-SG 28mm f3.5 lens ..... grabbed some old expired Kodak Gold 400 ..... dressed up warm ....... and out the door I go.
Normally, I shoot night shots handheld at high ISO's so I am mobile but I thought I would change things up a bit and experiment with some long exposures at small apertures.
Here are some of the results.
Whie on vacation I started actually sewing some of the 300 hexies I created. Only 50 down and 1150 more to go. A work in progress, but i love making the hexies.
Have you heard? @cloudtori on instagram has organized a European #cutecrittershexieswap. We could decide how many we wanted to make. I decided to make 50 which sounds a lot but didn't seem a lot when I put them into an envelope! I am so looking forward to seeing what I get in return - really exciting!

Tanya Whelan dolce English paper pieced hexagon stars. Three down, lots to go, hole in middle finger where needle keeps stabbing me.
This was from a pattern from Crochet Pattern Central but last time I checked there it was gone. Made about 5 years ago.
Familiar to me even though not local to me, I presume from seeing their ad's in the back of motoring magazines.

I love this quilt! Made using Aneela's tutorial (comfortstitching.typepad.co.uk/comfortstitching/2009/05/f...) and inspired by this (www.handmadebyalissa.com/big-hexagons/) set-up.
