Security Forces Airmen from the 104th Fighter Wing, Barnes Air National Guard Base, Mass., and Soldiers with the 747th Military Police Company, Massachusetts Army National Guard, are providing 24-hour security for testing sites and shelters for the homeless who may be positive COVID-19. The Airmen and Soldiers are working with interagency partners Springfield Police Department to ensure security and safety for the supplies, patients, and staff. Massachusetts National Guard units were activated at the request of Governor Charlie Baker and are helping at the testing facilities as a joint-task force. Even though the storm has passed, the recovery from Hurricane Matthew continues. Many of us were extremely lucky to receive only minor damage but not all of our neighbors were as fortunate. As part of the effort to help, Team Rubicon has been working with recruits from the Virginia Beach Fire Department in this home in Windsor Woods to facilitate their recovery.

He's a veteran off the 13th Battalion, the King's Liverpool Regiment, and one of Wingate's famous WW2 "Chindits.
The 77th Indian Infantry Brigade, otherwise known as the Chindits, was gradually formed in the area around Jhansi in the summer of 1942. Wingate took charge of the training of the troops in the jungles of central India during the rainy season.
Half of the Chindits were British: coming from the 13th Battalion, the King's Liverpool Regiment and men from the former Bush Warfare School in Burma, who were formed into 142 Commando Company. The other portion of the force consisted of the 3rd Battalion, the 2nd Gurkha Rifles (a battalion that had only just been raised) and the 2nd Battalion, the Burma Rifles (a composite unit formed from several depleted battalions of Burmese troops that had retreated into India in 1942.

As an aside, my paternal grandfather served, fought and died with The King's Liverpool Regiment in WW1's 'Battle of Passchendaele'. And, there in Passchendaele, my granddad's remains still lay.

During a one-hour discussion with UNHCR representatives on May 19th, 2023, it was clear they do not grasp the severity of my situation in Greece. Rather, they persist in advocating for my continued incarceration and enslavement. They failed to summon representatives from the Canadian, American, and Australian embassies to discuss my rights to settle in one of those countries.
Furthermore, they failed to provide physical copies of the requested materials. Due to financial limitations, I was unable to obtain the copies myself. This caused an ongoing disagreement that led to the meeting adjourning to a later date.
However, prior to concluding the meeting, I requested the Greek Minister of Immigration to apologize and make amends at the next meeting, and emphasized the need to involve UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi in resolving the prolonged Hostage-taking situation in Greece.

The World Health Organisation says the disease is prevalent in 13 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces and 300 cases have been successfully treated since 2001. With the right medicine, Leprosy is curable, but fear of the disease in uneducated communities means patients who develop physical symptoms and deformations are often cast out of their societies. These women said I was the last person to visit when I first met them ten months ago.

This year our volunteer project involved renovating and upgrading Las Tres Piezas Elementary School in a remote, rural and impoverished area of the Dominican Republic. The 1-room school was given an extensive makeover and now has new paint, a new volleyball / soccer field and related equipment, new picnic tables, secure fencing and a real bathroom with toilets, sinks and running water (the kids used to have a 1-hole outhouse and no water at all). Our group also donated a ton of school supplies.
All too frequently in tourist destinations, the only thing the local population ever gets to see are rich, fat Americans getting drunk and lounging on the beach in total luxury. I don't mind being part of that too, as it does help drive the country's economy, but I also feel strongly about giving back directly to those who are much less fortunate. Tourist dollars don't do much for places out in the boonies, far away from the fancy hotels and resorts. Working on projects like this makes you feel you're really doing some good for the world and makes one grateful for what we often take for granted in the US. How Is It Like for Refugees to Get Legal Aid in Greece?
Contacting the lawyer assigned to my case at the Evelpidon Court proved to be a challenging six-month ordeal, requiring the involvement of the Athens Bar Association and two in-person visits to their office, due to their lack of response to my earlier written complaints.
Three postponements of the trial have been caused by my request for legal aid, which was a response to the unjustified claims made against me by the Police following my removal from the European Commission’s office in Athens last November.
Once the lawyer was found, the Athens Bar Association facilitated a meeting at the Court where he received the case file and agreed to represent me solely for this particular case, without any involvement in previous or future cases.
Currently, we await the defense's success in proving my innocence during our June 15th, 2023 court hearing to avoid any potential incarceration resulting from unsubstantiated claims.

Both edits done in Lightroom. Here are my basic steps:
Straightened the photo making the wooden bar level, cropped slightly to bring the hat to the left edge.
Used the clone/heal tool to clean up the crumbs/spots around her mouth and the dark spot on her hat.
Applied preset Vintage Blue
Adjusted exposure to 0.51
Adjusted brightness to 43
Reduced luminance smoothing to 55 and color noise reduction to 68
Added an adjustment brush set to Iris Enhance selecting her eyes
Removed the vignette that was added in the preset and then used adjustment brush to lighten the upper left corner of the hat and darken the portion above her forehead.
Adjusted the Shadow Hue slightly to adjust the color
Added a Dodge adjustment just under her lips as it was a bit dark.
For the black & white, I started with the color edit and converted to b&w, adjusting the Shadow Hue and Contrast until I got tones I liked. Set the Point Curve to Strong Contrast
Adjusted contrast, fill light, and recovery until I liked the results.
