Mental Health awareness photo series.

Week 6 in the my 52 week challenge group is an interesting one. We are asked to create a story that require 4 photos separated over 4 weeks. This week is week 1 / chapter 1. The other weeks will be spread throughout the year, so you will have to wait an see what happens....

Like all good stories, this one is based on pieces of truth. As a doctor I see depression and anxiety on a daily basis in so many of my patients. It is the silent disease that people suffer through. Unlike a broken leg, where everyone immediately offers a helping hand, mental health is stigmatized even in this day and age. This series is for all of you who suffer - feeling stigmatized with your voice unheard and feeling like there is no one lending a helping hand for your pain.

Chapter 1 - The pain is unbearable, but invisible. You can't run from it. You don't know why you have it. You don't know where to turn, and you don't have to energy to try. This is your every day struggle. It's not something you can "snap" out of. It consumes you in a hopeless endless mess....

***Note to those who love me.... don't worry about me!! This is a photo that I have dramatized including crazy make-up alcohol and purposely using excessive "negative space" in the foreground. I am using my photography to promote mental health awareness and since I like expressing myself through self-portraits I thought this would be a good way to do it. ***

Another surprise postcard today. This one is from Sheila . Thank you Sheila for thinking of me and starting my Wednesday off with a big smile. It was so wonderful to receive it.

Check out Sheila's super photo stream. The photos she posts for WAH group I guarantee will make you smile..

Pulteney Bridge crosses the River Avon in Bath, England. It was completed by 1774, and connected the city with the land of the Pulteney family which they wished to develop. Designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style, it is exceptional in having shops built across its full span on both sides. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building..

The postcard is from an original painting by Sue Firth..

It seems that lately I have lots of friends dealing with lots of pain right now - sickness, personal crisis, death... Isn't it wonderful, though, that God has given us "Angels on Earth"? Those selfless people who are always there to help others when times are tough. Do you know people like this? What would we do without these people? I have seen so many selfless acts in the past few weeks. It so warms my heart in a world that can sometimes seem so cold.

Mr Rocky is so happy to see us. In fact

all the dogs and the nuns were happy.

And yes Molly and Blondie were waiting

for us under the concrete walking bridge.

Everyone was given hot-dogs as they were

injected with their monthly medications. ;-)-

Both no# 1 and I are really burned out and

will need some quality sleep to catch our

second wind. Soon as the dogs are fed

we will head to bed and catch ya all

on the rebound tomorrow morning.

Thank you all for your support ;-)

Thank You.

I-Rock Open-Air 2019

I had a couple meetings this morning that Iggy could not attend. He started to get bored, so I let him watch some episodes of 24 on the Ipod… other “employes” notice the TV session and decided to join him, but the little dude was focused. He put the headphone on and just concentrated on Jack Bauer… he is hooked.

Tomorrow is Thursday and we will have a

loaner car to pickup supplies for the animals.

So, that means any day after that the adventure

will happen, weather permitting. At 9:AM on the

day we leave a stop at the dog clinic will happen

in order to pickup an overdue inoculation for Baby

Mickey. The monthly inoculations are here and ready.

Excerpt from tourismhamilton.com:

Helping Hand: Burnt Toast Creative’s signature doodle pieces can be found across Hamilton and around the world. Scott Martin is the talented artist behind these colourful works and has done illustrations for brands like Dropbox, Facebook and Samsung. This popular piece featuring marshmallow clouds and a cartoon figure sitting on a hand was Martin’s contribution to the 2019 Concrete Canvas Festival.

A little planning ahead can make for some nice pieces.

Having the right tools to make the pieces help with consistency.

The rest is up to us. Hang in there people.

We spent the day in the rear garden. Generally tidying up and making it a bit more comfortable. Pep helped out too by keeping the chair warm!

The up and down weather has made it a challenge to keep local ski runs open. This couple seems to be looking with longing as mother nature is given a helping hand.

Rajasthan accounts for nearly 10% of the total child labour in the country with Jaipur alone having more than 50,000 child labourers in the age group of 5 to 14 years (...) According to a report, "Children in India-2012" released by Union ministry of statistics and programme implementation, there has been a considerable increase in the number of child labourers in the state.

Waiting before a final resting place.

Each year I weep because of the tragedy of so many people sent to war on behalf of those we trust to protect us.

Instead of protecting us, they play a game amongst themselves at the expense of the young and patriotic.

We are told at this time of year, “we will remember them”. Yes, I will of course remember the soldiers and civilians who died, but I will also never forget those who sent them to their deaths.

When our trusted leaders lay their flowers and bow their heads, it is with guilt and shame, not honour.

....an extra hand. Kinda like those ‘Five Guys’ dudes.....four just wouldn’t cut it, lol.

While we were on a cycling tour, Jac (my husband) noticed that this little goat wanted to drink but the trough was nearly empty and the young goat was too small to reach the water surface, so Jac decided to help :)

Helpful Friend

Today I was very busy putting a laminate floor in the attic...

When I needed to get something from the hardware store little Danbo went along and was very 'helpful' running around the store and yelling "wouldn't it be awesome to paint the attic orange?!!!"

He can be a hand full... the little helper ;)

I’m initially drawn to the eye contact between these two. I then see the helping hands as she attempts to affix what I assume is a bracelet to the wrist of her friend. I like the sense of trust, vulnerability and reassurance conveyed in this photo.

Rather than do my own head in pacing round the house looking for inspiration, I set the camera up in the front room, grabbed Riley who was on his way to brush his teeth and set the lights up.

Gridded and diffused softbox above and 1 x Yongnuo 560iv below with snoot.

I had to be quick as Riley's arm was aching so this was the second attempt.

Ran through Lightroom and SilverFX pro.

I often wonder how people manage to bike around on all our snowy and icy pathways, but how about doing it on a unicycle?!

Here's my favorite shot from yesterday's stroll over to the Forks, and as expected there were hundreds of people out enjoying the -4 day. Below you'll see some of the sights, including alot of people out for a skate, some at the curling bonspiel and some just, well......enjoying themselves!!

couldn't resist posting it in sepia... ; ))

Moving Vietnam Wall Memorial in Dacono, CO. I didn't plan this shot, and was surprised when I found it when I got home. It really sums up the day at the wall for me, the emotion and power of the Wall is all there. If it comes to your town someday, go see it.

Week #1 ~ Every Journey Starts with a ...

Category: Creative

1st week of a new 52 week project. I have an idea to try for an overall concept of connectivity to run through this project. We are all connected to the earth, the environment (built and natural), and to each other. Going to try and show this each week, if I can!

Best of luck to everyone in the group on their journeys through the next 52 weeks.

Together, it's much better. Under the Cherry Tree it is so idyllic and Beautiful
