Having completed a brief stop after cresting the summit at Sand Patch, Pennsylvania, four second-generation geeps get a westbound pig train moving.
No, it is the the Time and Tide Bell near Mablethorpe on the Lincolnshire Coast.. On this vast beach it can be seen for miles but the weather although warm had a featureless almost colourless sky due to haze caused by pollution. I did my best to inject a little more blue into the sky without changing the colour of the bell but its still a little blah..
Nevertheless here it is...I would love to get another photo of this sometime and the beach is beautiful and vast and if you bump into anyone its rare - although the foot prints show that it does have a regular stream of visitors. Two people walking the shoreline in this shot show the scale of this beach ( if you can make their tiny figures out )
It starts ringing as soon as the tide comes in and other bells like it have already been installed at six beaches across the country.
Time and Tide Bell is an art project made up of bells, designed by UK sculptor Marcus Vergette and Australian bell designer Neil McLachlan, installed at coastal locations in the UK. The first one was placed at Appledore, Devon, in 2009 and the seventh at Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire in June 2019

Having recently been diagnosed with Cancer I will only be dipping in and out of Flickr over the next few months. I will pass comment whenever I can, but don’t be surprised when I don’t, it will be because I am unable to at the time.
Moorhens are blackish with a red and yellow beak and long, green legs. Seen closer-up, they have a dark brown back and wings and a more bluish-black belly, with white stripes on the flanks. What they eat: Water plants, seeds, fruit, grasses, insects, snails, worms and small fish.
You can see moorhens around any pond, lake, stream or river, or even ditches in farmland. Moorhens can live in cities as well as the countryside. In the UK they breed in in lowland areas, especially in central and eastern England. They're scarce in northern Scotland and the uplands of Wales and northern England. UK breeding birds are residents and seldom travel far. (Courtesy RSPB).

I have to wonder what it's like to be a lone pine, a tree meant to stand in forests and relies on it's neighbors to keep it standing yet this fellow has wandered down the mountainside to stare it's grandfathers killer in the eye. One day soon it will be joined by another and then another until the forest is replenished, but until then this lone adventurer leads the way and stands sentinel over a land devastated thirty seven years ago.
Have a vision and work every single day towards it.

I have so many recent shots of the coast, macros of Lillies and Sunflowers, but just felt compelled to revisit and share some of magnificent Tasmania. It is such a beautiful natural place, the whole state. This is Dove Lake, north-west inland. It also boasts the most photographed boat shed in Australia, the only manmade construction in the place. (not in this photo though, have included a link to an older pic in the comments if interested)
This path is impossible to resist heading down, even if it's heading counterclockwise around the lake and the walkers generally go clockwise. Cradle Mountain frames the lake and is a world-class walking track of 5-6 days surrounded by untouched landscapes and full of wildlife.
This was a while ago now, with my first Olympus M4/3 camera and had me reflecting. There is probably a pun in there about mirrorless cameras and reflections, but I'll leave that alone, might reflect poorly on me. Actually, now I think about, I wouldn't mind a job cleaning mirrors, it's something I could see myself doing.

I have no idea what they make at this place, but my thought was some up-sized moonshine distillery, or a meth lab. I think this was someplace between Raton and Las Vegas, New Mexico. For sure I-25 and northern New Mexico. I've kept a journal since 2009 with date, odometer, and nearest town. So for a picture like this that was taken in 2012, by the date & time of day it was taken, I can usually figure out roughly where I took the picture.
Having photographed this operation numerous times it was always a joy to see the care used in maintaining these units well into the UP era. This shot was taken in March 2000 and look at how clean these units are. The mechanical staff at Helper really took great care of these units.

How I have missed those wonderful moments at the waterholes and today I went back in the archives to see if there were some files that could be edited. I love the zebras and it is so much fun to see how excited they get when they know they are nearing the waterhole. Etosha, Namibia is an awesome place and I will always be grateful to Michael Rosenbaum for encouraging Gary and I to go and we spent a month there learning all we could about this magical place . Fortunately we have been able to return many times since and have taken several groups to see the incredible raw beauty it has to offer. Hopefully we will be going back shortly as soon as Covid is under control .

I’d like to dedicate this shot to a good friend of mine William McIntosh. I have spent the last 4 months shooting as much as I can with Bill and trying to gleen info from him about his weather prediction skills and gain some insight about his frame of mind about photography. He is a master of weather prediction IMHO and I have always admired his tenacity which has netted him some absolutely fantastic captures from Yosemite National Park and the Pacific Northwest. Bill contacted me during the week to see if I was up for a Banzai run to Yosemite Valley as he was predicting a passage in the storm which would provide a high probability of misty/snowy conditions like seen in many of his postings from there. Of course Bill was right on the money as was shown from some of the webcams provided there. But unfortunately I had to decline as I was starting to get sick with the Flu and didn’t want to drag him down with me. Today he contacted me again to see if I was up for some shooting at Corona Del Mar but I was still trying to fight off the Flu and as painful as it was had to opt out again. Later, today, as I was digging through my folder of processed photos I found this shot and the pain of declination returned. Sorry Bill, I was more worried about getting you sick then worsening my own condition. LOL. Thanks for the invite my friend and hope you had a great day at CDM. Tale of the Take…
This is a side view of the arch found at Corona Del Mar, If you wanted to get a full view through the arch you would need to scramble along the cliffsides base there at a specific tide level, I say specific because if you time it incorrectly you wouldn’t drown but you would have to spend a long, cold night on the rocks or call the Coast Guard to come “fish” you out which carries along an $800 dollar or better rescue charge. I’m still hoping that Bill will show me the specifics of entering here at a time that would be safe to enter and exit during the sunset. See what I mean about his tenacity. :)

Have been un-able to post an image folks for the last 2 hours and am now finally getting there, a Flickr Thing I hope.
There were a few nests of this species that I was so glad to see this season, not as many as the other species but enough to ensure the population of this beautiful bird here in out wetlands, and there transformation to adulthood.
