I have my camera back but the weather is too awful today to take new photos, so I post another one taken in October, on a lovely day when Fynn was taking a nap in teh sunshine. The bed is actually the roof of Cleo's summer villa on the porch.

Charlie and Leo have arrived this afternoon and will stay with us until Sunday evening. For today they will stay in Cleo's hibernation room in the basement. My sister, my nephew and I take turns entertaining them. Leo is confused as it's his first time away from home since he moved in with my niece and Charlie doesn't understand why he isn't allowed to explore the house again.

Enjoy your day everyone. Thanks for visiting.

Why?

Who me?

Why?

Feet don't fail me now

Take me to the finish line

Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take

But I'm hoping at the gates,

They'll tell me that you're mine

Walking through the city streets

Is it by mistake or design?

I feel so alone on a Friday night

Can you make it feel like home, if I tell you you're mine?

It's like I told you honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry

Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough

I don't know why

Keep making me laugh, let's go get high

The road is long, we carry on

Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side

Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain

You like your girls insane

Choose your last words

This is the last time

'Cause you and I, we were born to die

Lost but now I am found

I can see but once I was blind

I was so confused as a little child

Tried to take what I could get

Scared that I couldn't find

All the answers honey

Don't make me sad, don't make me cry

Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough

I don't know why

Keep making me laugh

Let's go get high

The road is long, we carry on

Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side

Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain

You like your girls insane

Choose your last words,

This is the last time

'Cause you and I

We were born to die

We were born to die

We were born to die

Come and take a walk on the wild side

Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain

You like your girls insane

So don't make me sad, don't make me cry

Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough

I don't know why

Keep making me laugh

Let's go get high

The road is long, we carry on

Try to have fun in the meantime

Come and take a walk on the wild side

Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain

You like your girls insane...

Choose your last words,

This is the last time

'Cause you and I

We were born to die

Guten Flug in die neue Woche! * Have a nice flight into the new week!

I have always wanted to learn to be more artistic and draw, paint, doodle, anything to help me see light and shadow better. Also, I want to learn to code and have signed up for an online class to learn Python. I've decided that I need to stop working on my photo project to start opening up time to other areas of interest. It's not clear to me yet if giving it up completely will work because so I am not ready to stop cold turkey after almost 9 years but maybe I should just phone it in for a bit.

Have a fabulous Sunday :-)

Well now I have learned to take two or three balls with me to open fields where children often play or tiny dogs are excercising.. That way I can always get her Roma's attention..Roma rarely brings a ball back or drops it unless I have another... now who trained who?

This ended up being a tight 'shot' of the great grey owl as I cannot track flying birds very well. In the original image, the owl is close to the frame edge, as you see here, and there was nothing interesting behind it. Most of the cropping involved removing the entire right half of the image.

There were dark snow squalls happening in the distance on either side of that bright spot on the horizon, so I hoped the owl would fly high enough off its perch, and in the right direction, to get that colour in the background. The owl was kind enough to cooperate. There was no direct, bright light coming from the horizon due to cloud cover so the owl not as strongly backlit as it might otherwise have been, and I could get good detail in the plumage (no silhouetting).

They are back and it is so good to see them! Wish I could tell them apart. I haven't been up in a while so they seem extra hungry. They enjoy two meals a day it seems and if I don't feed them "dinner" by 4 they do not return until the next morning. I wonder if they have responsibilities at home.....

After a 5 year absence we have finally acquired a double-walled hive complete with Honey bees. We went to Ferns on Saturday & bought them off a fabulous bee-keeper, lovely man we were chatting for 2 hours nearly. They are setting in nicely & bringing back plenty of pollen. I rested my phone right by them as they were coming in & out the hive, just in my tshirt & shorts. They weren't bothered at all, very docile bees it seems. I'll get some better quality photos off the camera in due course HWW!

Have a great weekend

Have a wonderful Saturday - I'll be back later today to visit all of you.

“When I finish dressing before a night out and have put on all the accessories, I usually look at myself in the mirror long and hard and then end up removing something. Whether it's a belt, bracelet or a bauble, less is always more.” – Dame Joan Collins (English actress, author and columnist).

Like Joan Collins, I am a great fan of jewellery, especially if it contains either diamonds or sapphires – the latter being my birthstone – however, like her, I also know that less is always more. It was something I was taught as a child by my grandmother and have never forgotten it. For the theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 12th of June of “bracelet on white background” originally left me wondering what I could photograph. I have bought, inherited and been given a great many pieces of jewellery over the years: brooches, pins, necklaces, but I don’t have very many bracelets as I don’t wear them. In fact, I only have two bracelets in my possession. One is a very old and rare Vulcanite (early form of plastic) mourning bracelet which is extremely fragile considering it comes from the 1890s. The other is the bracelet which I used in this photograph. It was given to me on my birthday some years ago by my mother. It is a Hawaiian souvenir. Bought in the early years of the Twentieth Century it must have been a keepsake originally bought by someone quite wealthy, for the bracelet is made from hand made sterling silver links that are patterned with flowers on the reverse, and each one of these delicate blossoms is hand carved from shell before being affixed to each link with a sterling silver rivet. You will notice some small bits of black on the three flowers you can see the reverse of. Although worn by time and quite literally from ware, they are the remnants of artist’s name who carved the flowers. It is a dainty piece of jewellery, and one of the few American pieces I own. I hope that you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!

I battled this beast over the weekend and it put up a good fight.

My father passed away and I have the unenviable task of clearing out the house and yard of nearly 40 years of accumulated memories. To get to the back yard sheds I had to cut back some of this beautiful bougainvillea which had gone berserk with the rain and sunshine we've been having the last week.

I have been late with faves and commenting this last week.

Monday I was going to shift to winter tires. And when I came down to my garage someone had tried to break the lock without success. But ruined it so I could not open the door and could not get the car out. There has been police, security agency and I have still not been able to change my tires and consequently I can not use my car. Not with all this snow.

I have to walk. A "new experience" for me. There is a law in Sweden saying that December-March you have to use winter tires. So, please, keep your fingers crossed that next week it will be OK again.

HOUSE CATS HAVE MORE IMPACT ON LOCAL WILDLIFE THAN WILD PREDATORS !!!

===================

A tracking study of 900 house cats shows that when they kill small birds and mammals, their impact is concentrated in a small area, having a bigger effect than that of wild predators.

THANK YOU for your visit, friendship, and any comments, please don't fave and run.

Stay safe and well, God bless

Have a bright weekend, my friends!

Snowdrops have been known since the earliest times under various names, but were named Galanthus in 1753. Most species flower in winter, before the vernal equinox (20 or 21 March in the Northern Hemisphere), but some flower in early spring and late autumn.

Where have you been?

Do you know when you're coming back?

'Cause since you've been gone

I've got along but I've been sad

I tried to put it out for you to get

Could've, should've but you never did

Wish you wanted it a little bit

More but it's a chore for you to give

Where have you been?

Do you know if you're coming back?

We were too close to the stars

I never knew somebody like you, somebody

Falling just as hard

I'd rather lose somebody than use somebody

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise (I sold my soul for you)

I see my reflection in your eyes

28th February 2017

I have to post early this week because we leave for a one week vacation. The dogs will spend that time in a doggy hotel. It's their first time away from me and I hope it will go well and they gonna have a good time.

Since mid- December, I have been daily hiking the gorgeous lands surrounding St. George, Utah, lands which are part of the geologic formation known as the Colorado Plateau. The sculpted cliffs and canyons of this area present themselves through an amazing colour palette of crimson, vermilion, organge, salmon, peach, pink, gold and white, dotted in places by iron concretions - black, spherical rock marbles that collect in shallow depressions.

This image - composed in the Paradise Valley just outside of St. George - provides an example of the visual feasts one finds in this region. In the days to come, I will post other photographs from Utah’s portion of the Colorado Plateau, images I hope you will enjoy.

Happy New Year, Everyone, and may 2025 bestow upon you good health, pleasing accomplishments and many moments of joy.
