...have traveled afar. Seen on an island in the Beagle Channel on a day cruise out of Ushuaia, Argentina. Taken in February 2015 on the day before sailing to Antarctica.
Processed for Sliders Sunday using Deep Dream Generator. (How to get rid of an ugly background.) HSS everyone!
I have a pretty blue columbine growing in my yard, but I really don't think any of the cultivated varieties are as attractive as this Wild Columbine I find in the woods right now.
I have watched the rivalry between these herons for a few weeks now. In this instance, the Black-crowned Night Heron was fishing from it's favorite rock minding it's own business. As I watched, the Great Blue Heron slowly crept out of the shadows, getting ready to pounce on the other heron. The Black-crowned must of heard the other coming and suddenly burst into fright flight.

I have used this location for two other photographs....so I do find something about it very interesting and attractive.
Having driven from North Platte and stayed the night in Chadron, I was ready to embark on the slowest train of my trip, the every-other-day train from Rapid City to Crawford, Nebraska. With an 0800 departure from Dakota Junction, I scouted the line as the train progressed. Mind you, northwestern Nebraska doesn't offer much besides the undulating hills and a few creek bridges. I noticed I was traveling Old U.S. Highway 20, the longest road in the US. This section had long been abandoned after being rerouted nearby. Just imagine driving this and seeing a train was the only diversion from the road. The slowly clearing cloud cover helped as the train ambles along at 10mph through the sparsely populated land on its way to Crawford.
“Have you ever seen the dawn, full of deep silence and absolute clarity of perception? A dawning which you truly observe, degree by degree. It is the most amazing moment of birth. And more than anything it can spur you to action. Have a burning day.“

Took this at Sunset Beach, Cape May. I was taking pictures of the sunset and this girls were posing for their mom.

No I have not bought a drone camera ,to take this shot I climbed to the top of the very steep twelfth century bell tower of St Marys church in Rye to take a shot of the town
Rye is a small town in East Sussex It is two miles from the sea at the confluence of three rivers: the Rother, the Tillingham and the Brede. In medieval times, as an important member of the Cinque Ports confederation, it was almost entirely surrounded by the sea. It has one of the best preserved medieval street systems in England and as a consequence receives many visitors
It also has strong literary links if you look at the image and follow the line of the roof apex below you will see a small street at the end of the street is Lamb House. Henry James the great American novelist lived in the house from 1897 to 1914. He sold it to E.F. Benson the English novelist whose series of books “Mapp and Lucia” are largely based in Rye which Benson called Tilling . If you have not read anything by E.F. Benson he is worth a look. Written in the late nineteen twenties and early thirties the six novels in the Mapp and Lucia series are delightfully written comic novels that capture so well English snobbery and pretension . In particular the constant battle for supremacy between Miss Mapp and Lucia Lucus. They were filmed in Rye in 1985 on Channel 4, its a box set I regularly return too
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO

Dublin Link Bridge
The Dublin Link is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Scioto River in Dublin, Ohio. The bridge is the only single-tower S-shaped suspension bridge in the world. The bridge connects Dublin's historic district and downtown on the west bank with the Bridge Street District on the east bank. Shot from the east bank.
Having been referred to as a “cluster of tree houses”, a “crumpled paper bag” and an “urban sandcastle”, the Dr Chau Chak Wing building’s unique masonry façade—contorting and twisting in a three-dimensional plane for the full height of the 14-storey structure—created structural engineering challenges requiring innovative solutions.
In collaboration with UTS and the brick supplier, AECOM (an infrastructure consulting firm) developed a unique brick, tie, mortar and backing system that solved the load, constructability and complex geometrical issues, allowing a near impossible feat of engineering to be realised. This unique solution makes this brick facade one of its kind.
I have the week off so I had an opportunity to get out early to the riparian preserve. Frankly summer in Phoenix is not the best time of year to go birding, But I enjoyed myself and watched a few hummingbirds enjoying a mesquite tree. This one a female. I’m told by an expert that its probably a black-chinned hummingbird (my original ID was Anna’s Hummingbird)
Having fun dipping in the water- its hunting ground…
