Having recently been fortunate enough to buy a house with a field, we are enjoying these sheep loaned by a local farmer. Walking out on a late summer's eve, the light was beautiful.
We have had a really hot dry summer this year and a lot of my plants have suffered but my geraniums have flowered their little socks off and the Bees have loved it.

Old houses always have vibes. This one was particularly interesting. It is maintained beautifully, but has some rather strange vibes coming off of it is in an area that could be very busy. It brings nothing to the area because it’s been closed for quite some time.. i’ve always thought when I see really interesting properties if walls could talk, what would they say? This house didn’t seem to be able to share. No one seems to know the story of the closures of every business that has tried to survive in this historic building. The only comments I obtained from a couple of locals is that the place is haunted and very creepy.. one lady shared a worker has been coming and going doing some restoration and his constant companion, a small, mixed breed dog stops, staring at the door, and refuses to go in even though her owner is in there. That is a curious thing. As the little dog is quite adventurous per the lady, and always accompanies him on all jobs . hmmm

I think this chickadee was posing - he even puffed himself up a little bit for me. Love these little birds - so much personality.
Having a few corners left over from the fun I had with my plastic cubes, I found myself seeing what more I could make of the images. One in particular was very colorful so I started with that one. I duplicated it a bit and that started to look interesting, I then added the yellow from the corner I cut off and that gave a bit of light to the dark. With some nice color going, I was off to look for a bit of texture which led me to a camping trip folder and a window from the side of a wooden building in Maryland. Turns out I really like that shot and went ahead and processed it too. A stone stairway from a monument at Gettysburg Battlefield also caught my eye so I gave it a try and liked it. Many, many times I head down this path and the image just doesn't work so I go find another. Just as many times the whole thing gets shelved and I go do something else. Every so often, as the piece gets developed, I like what I see as was the case here with The Onlookers. All in all, I used four images and included a collage in the first comment.
Happy Slider Sunday - HSS
Salyx, having a wee shady moment on the new garden sofa...
We built this behemoth in June...from old pallets and new decking. I thought it was a good idea. It weighs a bloomin’ tonne! It is more than seven ft long, at one point. Also, I had to buy some sheds in which to keep the over-the-top-expensive cushions.
Anyway...not content with lying under a tree or a bush, Madam decided that comfort was top of the agenda.

Have you ever visited Sandbanks Provincial Park, nestled on the west coast of Prince Edward County? To be completely honest, and I don't want to exaggerate, but every person I have ever talked to in my life about provincial parks love this place.
There is our opportunity for an exceptional exploration and full enjoyment of the beauty of this park at this time of a year, especially, when all the summer crowds were gone. This image is taken on the stunning Woodlands Trail that leads across old farm pastures to hardwood lots. A walk over the leaf carpeted trail is breathtaking, and you can enjoy hearing the rustle of the leaves while walking. Awesome!
The fall colors amaze everyone, so enjoy them until you can, because the remanence of Hurricane Patricia will bring all the foliage down today!

I have a bit of time this morning, so I will tell the start of this magnificent day; the first day we, (a photographer friend, my younger two sons, and I), saw two owls in this park together.
We had not been in the park long, when this owl flew over our heads. We stayed put, and several minutes later it came back and landed in a Western Red Cedar right next to us. (The moment of this portrait).
Again, it didn't stay long, when it decided to fly right over my friend's head!
Another relocation, (we were staying put, watching the owl fly to and fro), and suddenly the second owl joined the first. The 'original' owl left it's perch moments before the second owl reached it, and they joined in the air in what looked like a brief scuffle with talons, before they both landed on the same branch.
They stayed there for less than a minute before the two of them joined ranks in chasing a Gray Squirrel that was jumping tree to tree, then spiralled down a nearby tree and off across a log over the creek and into the forest with one of the owls inches behind it in a graceful swoop.
We marvelled at this action right in front of us, all happening too fast and too close to even attempt a picture. Leaving the owls to finish their hunting in peace, we once again stayed put talking about the experience and occasionally seeing one of the owls zig-zagging through the woods in the distance.
Some ten minutes later one of the owls came back and landed in a nearby moss covered Big Leaf Maple tree and started preening. Minutes later the second owl joined it and they participated in allopreening. (The greeting that proceeded this mutual grooming session I have already uploaded).
...and that is only the beginning of a most remarkable morning spent with them.
I am making a semi-educated guess that the two owls involved are last years siblings. That was one story I heard from people who live nearby and frequent this park. The large female who used to 'rule' this park had disappeared, and I found out that she had been hit by a car and killed on a nearby road.
The other story I came across was that they are a mated pair. I spent many hours observing and keeping an eye open for a possible active nest site, and never found one, if there ever was one. Neither did I find any young owlets.
I will continue this story with more photos and at least one video link when time allows.

They have a highly audible song for such a small bird. It took several minutes before I could locate him as he sang a few phrases from one place, and then started again in another location. Luckily for me, he flew down to an open perch very close where he sang and raised his crown.
It was a bright overcast backlight situation. I was close enough to get detail though, and I really like the way those red crown feathers were lighted from behind.
If you have never heard its song, Check the link below.
