Could be a Pelecocera species of Syrphidae (Diptera).

I have just returned from my business trip to the Baltic Sea. It was a nice evening to spend by the sea and I brought back a few shots that I really like.

But my stay at home is just as short as this wave's visit to the groynes here.

There's just enough time to post a photo and eat something (in that order, of course). Then it's repacked and off we go again.

This time, however, as a private pleasure.

Gerade komme ich von meiner Dienstreise an die Ostsee zurück. Es war ein schöner Abend, den ich am Meer verbringen konnte, und ich hab auch ein paar Aufnahmen mitgebracht, die mir richtig gut gefallen.

Doch genau so kurz, wie der Besuch dieser Welle an den Buhnen hier war, genau so kurz ist auch mein Aufenthalt zu Hause.

Da ist gerade genug Zeit um ein Foto zu posten und etwas zu essen (natürlich in dieser Reihenfolge). Dann wird umgepackt und es geht wieder los.

Dieses Mal allerdings als ein privates Vergnügen.

We have only had two snowfalls this winter in the Halifax area which is so unusual. We had about 6 inches night before last and today it was 13 C and sunny. So crazy. How I made it: The paper heart I learned how to make via a TikTok video. It is held with a clothes pin that I blacked out with a marker. The camera is pointed at a slight up angle to not capture the top of the white votive candle about 2 inches behind the heart. In addition to the candle light, it is front lit from below with my cell phone light for about half the exposure.

With having to stay very local recently I thought I would miss the emergence of this species, but last Friday I got in the car for the first time for many weeks and drove the 4 miles to my favourite Demoiselle site.

The morning was freezing with quite a frost, this made it hard work to find anything as all the insects were deep in the undergrowth, and as soon as the sun came up it warmed up so quickly everything was very active as soon as they showed.

Despite this I did manage to get a small number of shots, and also some great views of these beautiful insects.

I usually only see green herons on spring migration so was surprised to see this one in the middle of the summer. It must have been looking for a good place to eat. Myself, I will be taking a flickr break to go do some wandering myself.

We have a ton of Peacocks that wander around the ocean side of Cape Canaveral. The story I heard was a farmer had them years ago and when he sold his farm he left them and well the flourished. Not sure how true it is, I have had stories about other birds that are living outside their native area before.

A lone Seagull owns the sky in Brooklyn. The span is the Marine Parkway Bridge connecting Flatbush, Brooklyn with the Rockaways.

We have been in Norfolk again visiting friends and I managed to catch a cracking sunset last night with some interesting clouds.

This was taken about 15 minutes before sunset as the last rays cast some good light over the moored boats.

I have never visited this historic landmark since I don't cope with crowds, but the current lockdown meant that no one was there, and the grounds continued open for public viewing. It was an amazing morning and photo op.

Originally constructed in 1761, in 1964, the City of Holland purchased the windmill De Zwaan from a retired miller in the town of Vinkel in the province of Noord Brabant, the Netherlands. It was shipped to Holland, Michigan and reassembled there.
