I figured that, since fireworks is moving anyways, it should be possible to take long exposures of it without using a tripod. Camera set to ISO 100, f/11, bulb exposure.

My camera can *almost* take IR photos without long exposures, but not well enough to actually be practical. I'm considering hacking my old 400D to remove the built in IR blocking filter so it can take full-speed IR, but I'm not brave enough yet.
I've just noticed that I seem to have added a cheesy fake vignette to this at some point, so the end result is that I've emulated a pinhole camera using a Canon 5D mark II.
no zoom handheld twilight mode for low light situations. camera takes 6 shots and makes one great shot form it.
(These are my first test photos taken whit the Sony Cyber-shot DSC HX5V in format:16:9 (3648x2056) for HD TV & A4 printing. None of these photos have been modified there all untouched originals.)
Sent 0mini down the street with a flashlight and instruction to look around himself. the light on the stop sign was an unexpected bonus.
