The cloud illumination tonight extended high into the atmosphere, lending itself well to this wide angle exposure. Taken in handheld hi-res from our home in the Countrywood neighborhood of Walnut Creek, California.
Heading to the Isle of Dogs through the Greenwich foot tunnel.
The Greenwich Foot Tunnel crosses beneath the River Thames in East London, linking Greenwich (Royal Borough of Greenwich) on the south bank with Millwall (London Borough of Tower Hamlets) on the north. Approximately 4,000 people use the tunnel (open 24/7) each day. It opened in 1902.
A picturesque jewel set against the dramatic backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, Inveraray is a lovely coastal village that perfectly frames the shimmering waters of Loch Fyne. Dominated by its rows of stately, white-harled Georgian buildings and its 38m high freestanding Bell Tower. It mingles with the whispers of the Scottish Clan Campbell history and the legacy of the former fishing industry that thrived on its once bustling quayside. Inveraray stands as a unique example of 18th-century town planning, making it an exquisite and memorable stop on Scotland's stunning west coast. "This handheld photo was taken from the summit of “Dun na Cuaiche” (813ft) which makes for a great hike to visit it’s Watchtower that dominates the skyline".
The most striking aspect of Flamborough Head are the white chalk cliffs that surround it. The chalk lies in distinct horizontal layers, formed from the remains of tiny sea creatures millions of years ago. Above the chalk at the top of the cliffs is a layer of till (glacial deposits) left behind by glaciers 18,000 years ago, during the last ice age. As the cliffs below are worn away by the action of the waves, the clay soil often falls into the sea in huge landslips.

I did this image from last year because in a week, give or take a day or two, we are headed back to Moab, Utah. We will be revisiting Arches and Canyonlands National Parks as well as Dead Horse state park and the Potash road scenic area. I'm hoping the weather works out better than last year. Last year we had several days with rain. As you can see in this image the clouds are really low and there is rain in the distance.
